Thats the highest I can get without dropping the divider. I'm almost tempted to go back down to 2.8GHz to get to 2.5-3-3-5 1T at the same speed since the CAS is lower and it was proven to be quicker and my Benchmarks aren't much different, but I'm not sure if I was a little lower CPU and faster RAM or a faster CPU and a little slower RAM
Thanks, well, hopefully I will get to test them out soon. Just got them today, along with my hard drive replacement. Got some installing to do before I get to the fun part!

With looser timings, I've squeezed 240 mhz, but you can't expect that out of these. There's no use returned your memory, you didn't get a bad pair. Whoever is saying they can run over 230 mhz by a large margin is pulling your leg.
So can you explain how I'm running 243.3MHz now

Because you dropped to CAS 3, but I don't think the performance hit is worth it. You can run 10 mhz less at CAS 2.5

I haven't read the entire thread, but yiffygriffy seemed to be having the same problem with his OCZ Platinum x2 1gb kit. He couldn't get them to run their rated timings. Mine run fine though at 2-3-2-6 1T 200MHz.

Hey Mumbles! Stop Mumbling!!
Have you pushed them higher, to see what the max mhz they can do? at whatever timings.

sccr64472, check that review i sited about this memory?

Well by having it at CAS 3 I can get my CPU speed higher.

i'll have to check my Sandra score and EVEREST score when I drop it down and see which is faster

Here's is the RAM's model #: OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K
If you can't get it to run 2-3-2-5 1T @ DDR400 then it's probably your motherboard holding you back. For instance, Samsung UCCC RAM doesn't work well in my mobo (Asus A8N-E).

This RAM has either Infineon or Aeneon (an Infineon company) ICs.
http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16069

I don't see why anyone would complain that this RAM "only" OCs to DDR460 since it's rated for DDR400. At DDR460 this RAM is going above and beyond.

If you want to get to DDR500 get some DDR500 RAM.

In conclusion, make sure that the RAM you're getting is compatible with your mobo.

Happy OCing

What stepping is your CPU? I just read that the later "E" stepping CPU's memory controller may handle 2gb of memory better than others.
heres my steppings from cpu-z. im not exactly sure what they are but maybe you can figure it out. i just got the processor in december if that helps

Hey bob,
I'm sorry, its not the stepping I read, it was the revision:
This is the quote from Anandtech:

"While we were happy with the performance of all three 1GB DIMMs, we would strongly recommend that those who plan high overclocks with 1GB DIMMs use a CPU with a recent Rev. E or better memory controller. 1 GB DIMMs are demanding and the more recent on-chip controllers handle the demands of 1GB memory modules better than older Clawhammer controllers."

I'm not exactly sure how to read that revision entry from cpu-z, but yours does have an "E" in it.
Have you had anymore luck with them?
I recieved mine the other day and got them to run 210mhz @2-3-2-5 1t easily. Mild, but shows they run the rated timings at rated speed. I'll test them more when I get my rig fully organized.
