Yet another-DFI LP nF4--Replacement

ok....i found out that my mobo is not working...DOA Wooohooo. Now that I did a TON of research on this board, half of what I see is all the problems with it. Tons of people are getting DOA boards and a ton more are having problems after they get the damn thing to post.

So here I am at a cross-road; send back the DOA and get a new DFI sent back, or send back the DOA and get a new board like some asus board. Now, as I understand, its just DOA but with my luck, if the next one isn't DOA, what happens when it craps out on me after a month. (BTW for at least half a year, I WILL NOT OC)

So what are your guys ideas, scrap the Mobo for a new board(May have to get new ram then) or just get the same board again and pray for a good board?

Thanks much!!

well what are timmings? cause the timmings for the DFI are extremely picky (but good once you get it all set up) / which slots do you have it set for / and what chip modules?

On the ram Lol?? 3-4-3-8. I just don't know if the DFI is worth actualy dealing with. I know its a great motherboard, but it seems to have a lot more problems then some other boards after you get it to post correctly. I may just order another DFI, send in the DOA on refund, and if the next DFI doesn't work to my satisfaction, Asus or another Mobo is....

I find that the method of researching prior to purchasing works much better than researching afterwards.

If your research leads you to believe that the board is not one you would now purchase having the information that you now have, then the recourse for me would be to sell this RMA product and purchase a new board that new research tells you would be a good buy.

good call, but I know that the DFI board is an excelent board, don't wana junk it just because I got a DOA. The ASUS boards have just about the same ammount of complaints also so....yeh

Ok, well, I am feeling better about the DFI. must have just gotten a DOA, bad luck....

Well, when I get home, I am going to try to get it to post to bios. If it doenst work, I am taking off the ram, putting it in my old comp and checking it. Then I am going to test my old arse Radeon 9200 in the DFI. I was wondering about it and perhaps its just not liking either A: where the 7800 is or B: The card itself. I'll post update when I try it.

By the way, last night when I took the CPU out the first time it wouldn't post, looked PERFECT (after cleaning off the Artic Silver 5 OC ) So, for now, I know its not the CPU, I know its not the PSU because that works just fine sending power to the mobo. I will find out if its either the GPU or the Ram when I get home I guess. And if both end up being tottaly fine, and I try a couple CMOS resets with the old gfx card...then I am packing it all back up and sending it back to newegg and waiting for a new one around wednesdayish.

Wish me luck

Well, that mobo is at the end. I am RMAing it on tuesday I beleive since thats the next day that I can possibly send out mail. I tried it all again with just a 9200 Radeon...didn't work. Before I even tried, I plugged both ram modules into my current PC and both worked 100% fine, 7800GT works, this keyboard works, anything on that Mobo works except the mobo. Wish me luck If I can get this damn computer to recognise the card from my camera, ill post pics, but if not, oh well, better luck with the next one I hope

THANKS for all the help. Through this whole process I have learned a lto and when I get the mobo back, this will be a walk in the park...lata

1. Did you have all 4 power connectors attached to the MB... that is a MUST DO?
2. Did you chack out ncsa's fine review on that MB, see below link?
