TF2 is overrated IMO - Page 16

I've been addicted to TF2 since I picked it up last August. I think that it appears overly simplistic at times, but in my opinion, it takes quite a long time to master the various classes, maps, tactics, timing and aim.

Being on the right server definitely has an impact. I usually start on some low level server to get warmed up, get my aim right, and dominate uncoordinated players/teams. I then usually go find a more competitive server to challenge myself. I prefer a variety of maps, and tend to switch classes frequently depending upon what I think the team needs. It helps keep it fresh for me, and I can play for several hours on end if I have nothing else pressing (like work, friends or grad school).

I don't expect everyone to get the same experience/challenge out of the game that I get, but I would definitely recommend TF2 to anyone who was considering a FPS when you take the price of the game into account (along with the continual free updates).

According to steam I have 300+ hours on TF2. I also mostly use a pay-2-reserve server where there are a lot of really good players. And if you get AMD+Nvidia and me together, we're literally almost unstoppable.

They're just hats. What do you mean by "they're adding items I can't possibly get no matter how good I am"? You can either go for the achievements for the weapons or wait for a random drop, which you don't have to idle to get. Drops aren't that infrequent.

I don't know what you mean by "they've added a bunch of weapon skinned items into the random drop, probably looks like a circus now." either. Explain?

It's a cartoony game in the first place, if unobtrusive hats that have no effect on gameplay at all affect your opinion of it, you're got your priorities jumbled up.
Was referring to this when talking about the skinned items: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/62880

And I know they're just hats, the point is though I can't get them unless I sit around in a server for hours at a time. There's nothing else you can do and that annoys me. I also don't need five hundred of the same weapon.

Just because it doesn't look realistic doesn't make it childish.

They just changed this actually. Now, you only get a certain amount of drops per week no matter how much you play, past a certain point. Like, say you get an average of 1 drop per hour, but you can't get more than 7 drops per week. After ~7 hours, you won't get any more drops, no matter how much you play.

Those numbers are just made up, I seem to be getting a lot more than that. But either way, idling is no longer going to be useful for getting items.

Also, the crafting system allows you to turn those 500 of the same weapon into a hat or anything else you want.

IIRC the weekly quota is 12 items per 7 days. The drop rate ranges from half hour to 3 hours depending on frequency of play during the week. Hope that helps.

I'm pretty good at this game, can hold my own against some of the stars, but i play for FUN, mindless FUN. there is so much to do in this game, have a sandvich party, engie dancing, spy crabbing the water zones...
i'm currently in a non-serious fun based clans who has it's share of amazing players at their respective classes, but who are just there to heckle around, one of our regulars is BornToPimp (former league sniper), quickshots everything and everyone, but he's also messing around on mic, having some laughs and stuff...
the comp guys tend to be pretty nice fellas, and the pubstars who think they are awesome are THE most annoying thing to ever have crossed the face of the earth
