TF2 is overrated IMO - Page 3

I don't.

That's because it is

Quote:
It doesn't reward players for having amazing aim
Uhh, yes it does. IF you can't aim you can't do anything. Trust me on that one, that's been my issue since the day I got the stupid game.

Quote:
and game oriented skills such as bunny hopping
This isn't a skill. This is just annoying. I'm glad it doesn't allow this.

Quote:
grenade jumping
Demoman and Soldier both fire explosives. They both can use these explosives to launch themselves quite far. It's a built-in game mechanic Valve actually expects you to use. They even put achievements in for both classes in relation to launching onesself with one's own bombs.

Quote:
The skill curve just feels flat to me, it isn't like TFC where it could take years to get to a high level and it actually took a crap load of aim, map awareness, and overall skill than what TF2 takes to be considered good.
So? Some people don't like having to take a game seriously to be good at it. I know I don't, hell if it wasn't for TF2 I would be able to say I play exactly 0 shooters online and be quite truthful about that. The only reason I couldn't claim 0 FPS is because Garry's Mod is an FPS as well.

Quote:
Now a days when I go to load up TF2 I can barely play for 20-30 minutes without getting bored to tears of how casual friendly/easy it feels to me
And I can't load up CSS and play for more than 20 or 30 minutes without getting so pissed off/frustrated that I want to pick my CRT up, drive my ass all the way to the other player's house and smack them with it. Ala Dr Hax.

Quote:
it seems like a game I could see people having a good time playing
Isn't that the point of a game at all? If you're not having a good time, the game has failed epically. That's why I don't play CSS, I simply don't find it fun. The only reason I own it is the plethora of mods for Garry's Mod that use it's resources, if it wasn't for that I wouldn't own it.

Quote:
It just doesn't feel like a "core" FPS to me.
You're shooting things from a first person perspective. Yup, it's an FPS.

OP, you need to realize that some players aren't in it for the competition. Some players don't care about their KDR, they don't want to devote their entire lives to mastering it. They don't want any of that crap. They just want to have some fun in an FPS. TF2 lets them do that. I'm one of those poeople. I play for fun, and I simply don't find it fun if everyone else on the team is taking it seriously. Nobody is forcing you to play TF2, so if you can't find a server that suits you, then by all means go back to those snorefest twitch shooters you seem to enjoy. I don't enjoy those, so I don't play them online.

What do you want it to reward you with? You get achievements, weapon unlocks, and higher scores when you have better aim/skills. I don't really see how you could ask for more.

I already tried that, I played in the CEVO TF2 Beta tournament when the game was in Beta.
do you play competitively or just in pubs? night and day

I love TF2. It's a very well balanced game that has an insanely high skill curve, especially in comp.

It's amusing seeing people whine about wanting the old vanilla TF2 back, even though it's obvious that if Valve didn't update the game it would be dead by now (and the same people would whine about Valve not updating it). Only reason games like CSS are still being played is because of the community (ugggg).

I run a tf2 server and can completely agree that it feels casual... But you have to remember that you are running with pub rules and not a competitive config / ruleset.

On my server it IS open to pubs but it has a competitive setup (Engineers, heavies, spies, pyros are all limited to small amounts per team - No damage spread / nocrits and competitive maps)

Makes it a lot more enjoyable and takes the "casual" feeling out of it.

http://www.tf2lobby.com

You're judging the more competitive side of things on a tournament you played in beta?

Go play some games on tf2lobby comp style and see how well you do. Then come back and let us know how unskilled people are and how everyone has topped out on the learning curve.

If you think the game is too noob-friendly, then I can imagine that since everyone is evened out, you will never get creamed by anyone. Right? ...Right?

YouTube- CommFT's Top10 plays of TF2 - DecemberAny one of these would cream you.

TF2 does not reward you for the things you're used to from other FPS's; bunny-hopping, quick aim, getting kills. It DOES reward you for following good team strategies to reach victory. Skill in your decision-making makes such a difference that while I personally can manage a 2-1 kill/deaths as the Heavy (the classic spray and pray class) there are plenty of people on the forums complaining that he's useless.

^This, and OP if you're really that bored with it than maybe you shouldn't play the game and stick to CS/:S? Though I doubt anyone who plays CS/:S has the time, skill, and patience to play a mean Spy or Scout, maybe you should try and get good at one of the harder classes to in the game ?
