TF2 is overrated IMO - Page 5

I play competitively, and it's not boring. Even though I always play Medic, it's not boring.

Play with the right people, and understand what is going on at a higher level, and it's not boring anymore.

Hey, that's totally cool, people should play games because they find it fun. Sometimes I will be a spy, which I am pretty awful at, and just banzai through a group of people to stab one guy, it's funny as hell.

IMHO TF2 is perfect for casual gamers. You don't really need to learn each map inside and out to be effective. Its easy to hop on and play for a few minutes. Especially since its deathmatch and you don't have to wait to respawn.

CSS on the other hand requires repetition to be mastered. To be good in that game you need devote hours of repetition and practice to get above a 1:1 ratio. But once you do it becomes the best game ever.

I have spent too many hours in CSS and its still so much fun. I stick to the M3 shotgun and P228 just because its more rewarding to kill with those weapons. TF2 oth is just a little to easy to start dominating. Spawn as Heavy - getting invuln and bam you get 10 easy kills that require no skill. Its not rewarding.

Bunny hopping isn't even a skill. Its a freaking engine exploit, and can't compare to rocket jumping.

TF2's skill curve goes insanely high, you just aren't good enough to appreciate it because you seem to be used to no-skill twitch shooters.
So true, ESPECIALLY about the bunny hopping.

I tend to like games that have lower learning curves or are easier (at least from the get-go) though. Like a game you don't have to be really "good" at to have fun as a beginner. If I had to spend a zillion years to even enjoy a game because it's so hard, I'd never play it to begin with. I have so many games in my library that it simply wouldn't be worth my time. That's just me though.

Although I do agree with Nathris that TF2 has a high learning curve, but not to enjoy the game. Meaning it's fun even if you haven't mastered some of the more difficult maneuvers or strategies.

Sounds like MW2 for PS3. My first game online I was 11-6 and was wondering if everyone sucked, until I got wrecked by some douche in a harrier.

Now, with the updates, stupid hats/gimmicks it's not fun. I want the old TF2.
Refreshing new weapons and maps and hats merely made for fun ruined the game that much for you?

Explain these "gimmicks" you speak of.

I agree with OP. Getting killed by terrible players because the game is slow isn't fun.

Give me CSS any day.

Personally I don't like it, not my type of game and I can never get into it however much I try. Gave up trying to play it a while back... however I can see why people like it, its a good concept and is one of those games that you either love or hate.
