Ah, and this argument. Allright. Sure, we have good technology. But what do we know of other foreign super power's technology in military? Every country I gaurantee has some secret weapon/trump card. But really, I thought it was known that Japan excels other countries in technology.
Notice the camera and speakers behind it. And its externally powered. If half the stuff is external, I dont see it as being a true android. And are you saying that the US isnt capable of doing the same? MIT has done some very similar things. And then we can even look at biotechnology. Who was it that mapped the human genome? Whose research includes such programs as FAH? Who has developed some of the most advanced treatments in the world? Ill let you answer that. Building a robot that looks human-like doesnt automatically make you the most advanced country in the world.

Who made you the expert? Just cause you think you know it all? Ive done my homework on this and I can thoroughly conclude that the US is more advanced in most areas, note I said most, not all, areas.

I really dont see the why we should put extra time on this thread, im not trying to be mean or anything but sony hasnt released a msrPrice, all the prices that u see floating around are all speculations so why even bother? and if the ps3 would cost 600 bucks i wouldnt be suprised like what jori said the ps3 is marketed a media center if any of u familiar with top end receivers and dvd players then u will know they will cost alot of money. no matter what the price the ps3 is going to be i will buy it, im not a sony ps3 fan boy but im a techno geek/ home theater enthusiast, i will buy the ps3 cuz it will be the first BLU-RAY out int he market, 2nd would be the blue tooth function it will go along with some of my blue tooth device, 3rd it will be nice to intergrate the rest of my sony stuff with this my upcoming psp, tv, and camera. This thread has been on and on like the xbox 360 and turns out to be a flame war. so what is exactly the point of this thread?

judging on their pricing on everything else.......YES

But yeah expect he ps3 to be $500 at the most. Im guessing a $449.99 price tag on a stripped version and all accesories very over priced.

about which country is most technologically advance, i know Jori is right, hrnygoat u seem way to patriotic in this subject, first of all about the supercomputers and who has the best technology, look at AMD chips, they are made in malaysia....not in the us,... look at your superpi readme document. it states
Quote:
Title : Super PI Ver1.1e (calculation of pi up to 33.55 million digits)
Keywords: PI MATH WINDOWS

In August 1995, the calculation of pi up to 4,294,960,000 decimal digits
was succeeded by using a supercomputer at the University of Tokyo. The
program was written by D.Takahashi and he collaborated with Dr. Y.Kanada
at the computer center, the University of Tokyo. This record should be
the current world record. ( Details is shown in the windows help. )
This record-breaking program was ported to personal computer environment
such as Windows NT and Windows 95. In order to calculate 33.55 million
digits, it takes within 3 days with Pentium 90MHz, 40MB main memory and
340MB available storage.
The software is free and the circulation of program is also free!

did u not read this? In August 1995, the calculation of pi up to 4,294,960,000 decimal digits

sure america has good stuff, like military, but i dont think japan is looking to destroy every other country, they are passive and dont care for violence as an act of power. like Jori said, they have cell phones way ahead of us, robots, and im sure they have great scientists too. it is said everyone that japan is technologically advance, why hasnt US reached 4,294,960,000 decimal digits of pie? because they cant write the program.

Japan also has the best internet connection of any country ever. they have Optical Internet, i think its up to 100mbs per second, and everyone can get it, you and me, and its not very expensive. why doesnt US have available optical internet, they will , ofcourse they will because its the future., but japan already has it in definition meaning they are ahead of us.

about spacetravel, do u understand we are not looking to discover planets lightyears away, thats almost impossible, we are seeing if mars has life, and if we are the only ones in our galaxy, mars is the only possible inhabital planet close to the sun that is possible to reach, the closest star i think is 4 light years away, thats traveling at the speed of light for 4 years, ofcourse we cannot acheive that speed, and to go that fast on modern rocket fuel it would take a mass of the whole universe in fuel to reach the speed of light. this is basically pointless, i mean why not waste all those billions of dollars on feeding the starving, or on an oceanic project, for gods sakes we havent seen whats in the deepest trenches in the world.

[On Topic]

After reading this whole post...most being personal between two people...even if the console costs 900 bucks, that wouldn't phase me at all. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on computer equipment in my lifetime while spending only a mere fraction of that on consoles. I've bought an Atari XE Programmable, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo64, Playstation, Playstation 2, and an XBOX 360. All coming to a total around $1,600 US. 900 bucks is just another drop in the bucket. Regardless of price, I'm most likely going to buy the system because my hobby/past-time is gaming. If this console truely is what they (Sony) say it will be, I'll find a way to afford it.
