7800GS worth the money? - Page 2

The real problem here is that I have to stay with agp. So If I am going to upgrade my vid card I want something that is going to last me a LONG time. Because my next vid card will have to be pci-e which means that i will have to buy a new mobo, a new cpu, and a new vid card. I want to be set for a while.

comparing the x850xtpe STOCK speeds to the 7800GS STOCK speeds, the x850xtpe actually owns it in benchies and games. My 20 extra mhz on the core and 40 effective mhz on the memory made me beat the eVga superclock edition with approx 300-400 points in 3dmark05. With some extra push that i dont need it could probably go alot further. In comparison to the superclock edition that has been reported with artifacts and glitches

Yeah, its cheaper but it's crap in my opinion. I downgraded from an x850 XTPE because the xXXX XXXX series cards do not support SM 3.0.
If you MUST buy an AGP card, go for the GS, but I would actually reccomend that you upgrade to PCI-E (tis' what I'm doing in a few weeks).

well yeah but then you need to invest alot more money, although AGP is still being treated well with new cards and such

I really don't get why they made the 7800GS so expensive. It's slower than the 7800GT yet it cost more. People should just save up a bit more and buy a new comp. 7800GS isn't worth it IMO.
Not bad at all...
