Did a lot of testing and was surprised to find out the sweet spot for my 3x 480s:

860 core / 1950 mem / 1.025v (!)

That's the stock voltage for 1 of my cards and just notch higher for 2 others.

I was very impressed with the overclock for the voltage.

Sweet spot Vantage P Result

Max OC Vantage P Result

More results & power consumption in my worklog.

Hey,

I have just overclocked my GTX 480 for this first time. I still have the stock cooling and i havn't increased voltage.. Does this OC look ok?

I'm installing Crysis again so i can run a benchmark (upgraded from Vista so lost all my files)

Yea clancy, that looks good. Seems most can hit 800MHz core on stock everything. Have seen a few that can't, not too many though.

The question and hard part seems to be how far over 800MHz core you can get. That's from what I have experienced and read from most other experiences is the hard part.

Do you know what your stock volts are?

Edit: and NC, man, you're killing me with your clocks and voltage needed.

Luke, what was your max oc as it didn't score much above your sweet spot score.

Nice, what's your Vantage P score with these clocks (no PhysX)?
Is it a single card?

900 core / 1950 mem 1.138v

Now, what's interesting I got higher result @880/1950 @1.075v

I've run each setting 3 times and the results were always very similar.

I have no idea exactly why this is the case, but I suspect that perhaps it has to do with too high power usage through the board?

Stock 3x480 + i7 980 + x58 and wifi =
75Wx3 + 130W + 50W (?) = 405W + OC = ~450W ...???
or something like that going through just 1 8pin CPU and 24 pin - perhaps this is too much and 1 GPUs get less volts and downclock for a while?

While running I've had a look at power monitor and weirdly enough usage jumped like from ~980 to ~1260 in Calica - where I would have though the usage would be give or take 50W constant...

Any ideas welcome

Details & power usage here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=131

I'm more than happy with 24/7 OC though so no tragedy if mystery is unsolved

I also hope Futuremark gets R257 drivers to the official list...

Well, out of just being curious. Have you brought GPU-z up for each one and checked it's vddc to see if one or more of the cards are jumping down voltage states?

Also, maybe (and I know this is just for benching) tried to up the voltage just a tad bit more to say 1.15v?

I know I'm only running one but I had to mod the voltage in bios to keep it from downstepping states when I reached 900 core. But my chip does suck so....
