Why do they have all different steppings...Wouldn't you think they would be the same stepping or let you choose which stepping you want instead of it being a luck of the draw thing....

Someone please expain the logic behind that one...

ok then, i read it on some site.. i think... hehe ohh well i'm happy it's not true
thanks for the heads up

Also AMD ships out there cpus they make this batch and that batch, they are never all the same, they all user different wafers and such, it's very much impossible for AMD to make exactly the same CPU and the exact same limitations millions of times over.. however much everyone here would like that, it can't be done...

sorry i couldnt reply earlier ppl. was a little bummed yesterday and in any case i only went to bed at 5 and u guys asked the question after that.

well to answer the question about the binning material, i read yesterday in a number of forums especially at extremesystems about this, i also read the same news at anantech forum's unofficial thread for opty and DFI-street forum.

as for AMD trying to limit the purchasing the chips, i read it around too. sorry i cannot post links coz i am at the hotel and using dial up so its pretty slow.will do so on monday though. in any case, consider that the PIB AMD Opty 180 is priced by AMD at USD 647 but is actually sold by Newegg at USD795 (price as of 7 hours ago). so it kinda points to the fact that some1 is either trying to make money out of it or trying to stop the general enthusiast from buying it.
