How often you update BIOS?

Thread Starter
Is it so that if your current BIOS version is working well and no problems, you shouldn't update your BIOS?

I was using BIOS released in November (2303) and now yesterday updated to BIOS released less than month ago (3303). So half a year newer than previous.

How often you update your BIOS?

I don't update my BIOS's unless I'm having a problem, and the later BIOS has a known fix to it. That's just me though.

I'm with pioneeriscloud. I don't update unless I need something fixed.

I'd say if it works and doesn't give you any problems, don't update it. If you get a new cpu however, than it would definitely be a good idea to update to the latest bios to make sure your cpu will work.

Never,no problem at all

i usually update when i first get my mobo, if that model just came out, then i watch for updates here and there to see if there are any newer BIOSes that are of any use to me

other than that, i don't really update my BIOS unless i'm having an issue

You should not update the BIOS unless you are having an issue. I have never seen a single manufacturer recommend users just update to the latest BIOS for no reason. They aren't like GPU updates where each driver helps a little bit.

Hello. Crazy9000 have allready told this, I can confirm that It is not suggested to update to a newer BIOS version aslong as you are not having a problem. The newest version is may not allways the choise for exactly your hardware.

As newer versions have a tendence to forget about loading files for non comercial hardware, this can be a cause other problems. These problems could be checksum errors, or you will may not be able to post at all. In the worst cases,
''have happened'' is it necesarry to plumb off and exchange the CMOS brick that is allready plumbed on the MotherBoard.

You may reprogram the old CMOS by using it on a system that is fitting the system requirements supporting the BIOS version. This is not suggested, as doing this is more expensive than the price of most ordinary MotherBoards.

Please get enough information about the BIOS version you are about to install, so we are not stepping into unecesarry problems because of having a urge of updating it.

As has been mentioned. Only unless I'm having issues, otherwise there's no point.
