Split/Second Velocity Crash to desktop (FIXED!!!)

When i try to run Split/Second Velocity screen goes black and it crashes to the desktop?

they say it is the monitor problem (LG 16:9 1360x768)

and that this is the solution

Unsupported Resolution Issue

If you set your resolution to one that is not supported by your monitor, you may no longer be able to see Split/Second! If this happens you must delete your Split/Second configuration file.

This file is called config_ss.cfg and is contained in your My Documents folder in /Disney Interactive Studios/Split/Second/.

Please be sure to delete ONLY this file! It will not affect your saved games or progress.

and i am a Windows 7 64 bit user and i cant find the Disney Interactive Studios folder in my documents! and i have to delete the config_ss.cfg causei think its a resolution problem!

Search functions already tried...

Its not in Appdata to...

Its just not there...

and they say that windows 7 is supported so it needs to be there!!!

or isnt it a 64bit game?

i think it doesnt support "Documents" folder in windows 7....

cause there is no "My Documents" in Windows 7...

there is only a "Documents" folder in Windows 7 (like in vista its the same thing,Documents)...

so the configuration folder may be not installed in Windows 7 and i think thats the problem and why it cant find the settings of resolution or something..

anybody a solution?

it probably only supports 1366x768, you should just run it at 720p

hey I fixed this by right clicking on the shortcut to Split/Second,Properties, then going to compatibility tab. Check the boxes for Disable Themes,Desktop Composition, and Display scaling on high DPi settings. Hit apply and have fun blowing **** up! Now if someone can tell me why this game runs like crap on Very high. Sli prob doesn't work at the moment...

Well, I've found the folder on my computer... It's located where one would expect [D:\\Users\\*****\\Documents\\Disney Interactive Studios\\Split Second]. Config file is there too. If you can't find the file using search then try and reinstall the game. Works fine for me, BTW.

I haven't had any issues with resolution. I installed it and it auto set itself to 1600x900 and High graphics. The game seems locked at 30fps (console port) and if I set it to Very High I drop to 15-18fps.

The only issue I have is when I start it up and start a race, the camera is locked to a front view of the car, looking behind me, and it's on auto-accelerate. A simple alt-tab for a couple min remedies that.

Ok coz it automatically detects resolution try changing desktop res to something diffrent
and then set it up in the options when your on teh game

This may only work on a fresh installation

AFAIK works fine 1280x1024first start on my 1080p monitor

FINAL SOLUTION I FOUND OUT !!!

FOUND THE CRASH ON FIRST STARTUP SOLUTION!

it may work with NVIDIA and ATIcards but i only tested it on my ATI HD4650...

go into Graphics Control Panel (ATI Catalyst or NVIDIA Control Panel).
go to Monitor Configuration and force resolution to 1280x1024.
now start Split Second Velocity and it wont crash...

ingame set the resolution to 1024x768 then exit the game..

go to the graphics control panel again and set monitor settings to default again.

now launch the game and it wont crash on your normal resolution and now you are able to set it on the resolution you want

hope it will work for all the people who have the same prob

ok if your having a issue with the program crashing as soon as it starts the reason is due to 1: your screen cant handle the res the game starts with which is 1280x1024

to fix this is easyer then we all thought it would be you just need to force your computer in window mode for it to fix it but you will need a program ive tryed this with 2 different ati cards ones a 3200 hd one and the other is a 5450 ati but should work for all the issues with this issue first go here http://www.filetransit.com/download.php?id=63051 download it put it in a place you will find it then open the program and hit select now find the split second exe it should be in

C:\\Program Files \\Disney Interactive Studios\\Split Second\\
of if your useing windows 7 64 bit its this
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Disney Interactive Studios\\Split Second\\

after you get there make sure theres no compatiblilty things checked after that now on the program we've downloaded click forced windowed mode and hit run sure start without a issue after your in the game go to options and change to whatever you want after you got what you want exit the game and close the program and then it should be safe whenever you want to play it

try this:
right click on desktop shortcut of the game then properties
in the target section writ this at the end
-Width 800 -Height 600
for example
"G:\\Disney Interactive Studios\\Split Second\\SplitSecond.exe" -Width 800 -Height 600
and then change the resolution as you like then exit the game and delete that you written " -Width 800 -Height 600"

I can confirm this works. The workaround is simple. The game crashes because the installer does not create a config file for Windows 7 systems. So all you have to do is create the following folder as per this path and place the cfg file shared by chingonsh in that folder and the game will run. From there on you can enter the game and change the settings.

Path: C:\Documents and Settings\Santiago Herrera\My Documents\Disney Interactive Studios\Split Second

File: http://www.mediafire.com/?tg5n1gwmlqm

All credit to chingonsh for sharing the file and the path.

Thanks man!!!
