Ripping a CD is illegal

Quote:
IT'S TIME TO BACKPEDAL for the DRM infecting music industry, but this time, it is on record in black and white.

Luckily, its hypocrisy is as boundless as its greed. Remember when the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) was arguing in front of the US Supreme Court in the Grokster case, and it said that ripping a CD that you lawfully own to your MP3 player was "perfectly lawful"? Well, now it isn't.

Oh how I love the recording industry... They don't care if you're making them money with your music or if you're the consumer that's buying it. They just want you to bend over.

I don't understand why they're still making such a big deal about this. I mean is music still pirated that much; I thought things kind of cooled down after Napster. The movie industry should be the ones raising hell about pirating.

I am ok with cracking down on file-sharing, because I believe it truly is stealing. But now the RIAA has really gone too far. When you buy a CD, its up to you whether you want to hear the music off your stereo, your PC, or your iPod. Either way, the person who paid for it is using it. They're being real babies about this.

I cant actually believe they would do that. Do you think this "law" will spread across to europe?

How are you supposed to enforce a law that outrageous? So now if I want music I can't get on the internet, I can't use it on my computer at all? Take say the FF: Advent Children OST (my friend owns this), good damn luck finding that online legally, if you do, well then I applaud you.

If you bought the music, it should be yours to use, as long as you don't transfer the music to anybody else. It'll be entertaining to see how they try to enforce this.
