I keep telling everyone wait till the DX10 cards come out I think that's why Nvidia is pushing the 79's out so fast because they'll then cease to manufature those for new cards for Vista which should be out around November. So I would expect to see new cards out by September or October.

I'm actually happy about the turn of events! LOL Back in August I bought my Asus GTX and the bad boy was over five bills...

Now that the new ones are coming out I'll be able to pick up a new or used GTX for a lot less and still have the power of SLI! Plus, once I add in water cooling I might be able to get them running around the same speed as the newer 7900s.

New technology is always coming out. As early adopters we know that our flashy new hot cards won't be that way for long. That is the biggest disadvantage to buying the best right away in the computer hardware arena!

I usually buy one step behind the best to maximize my upgrade dollar but that time I changed my mind. I wanted to feel what it was like to have the best...it was pretty cool and all but most likely on my next go I'll be building one step behind and learning to maximize overclocks.

By the time games won't play well on a 7800GTX (let alone in SLI) it will be way past time for a upgrade anyway.

My overall view is: "Cool, now I get to have SLI for less cabbage baby!"

It stands for Direct X version 10. I don't know the details of what it will do over DX9 but eventually it will be the new DX standard.

DX10 or Direct X 10 is the new standard for graphics when Microsoft Vista is released. All the newest GPU's designed for Vista and the new games that will be released for it will all be DX 10 due to advanced shaders and such.
Here's a couple links to help explain it better...

Anyone knows where to resell a Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX, cause the prob is that I'm only 14, and I'm gonna say to my dad, Dad, Nvidia is stopping its releases for 7800 GTX so I will never be able to run SLI, I need to get the next one, what is he gonna answer? The one you got is already good... If the prices are same then it will be fine but damn.

7800 GS will not be hit because it's the best for AGP right now, I doubt 7900 GS so...

BUT MY ADVICE GUYS IS, IT LOOKS LIKE NVIDIA IS TRYING TO GAIN SOME TIME BY MAKING THE GEFORCE 7 LONGER: 7600 GT, 7300 GT... WHILE THEY ARE I THINK ALREADY ON THE GEFORCE 8, SO IF THERE IS NOT THAT MUCH IMPROVEMENT ON THE NEXT CARD, WAIT FOR GEFORCE 8, then you will have your money saved and good to go, instead of buying the newest technology right now to change it in 2 months like most of us did.

You could probably sell the card on eBay if you wanted but I think you already have an awesome card. You can play all the games out now at great resolutions and framerates and its not like you won't be able to get SLI.

In fact, it will probably be easier to convince your dad to get you another 7800 for SLI than it would to get the next latest greatest card.

Folks, the 7800s are not going to dry up over night. There will be a transition period that will last a while and during that time, you'll get the best value on the cards because they'll come down in price.

After all, if you had bought a 6800GT back when they were first coming out and wanted to make your system SLI now...You can still buy a new one today. And look at how long ago that was.

Hence my idea that there will be plenty of transition time to get SLI if you want it.

Thats my .07 anyway.
