trying to overclock my system

Thread Starter
i am new here, so i will start by saying hello to everyone. I want to overclock my sytem a bit more to try and get atleast 2.3ghz or more out of it. i am new to socket 939 boards and cpu's as i have only had this for about 3 days now. would really like some step by step info on what to do and where to start. as theres so many options in the bios is just crazy. i know that on my old athlon xp 2800+ all i was able to do was raise the fsb little by little but was limited because i had no pci/agp lock. but in the bios on this board, there stuff in there i have never seen.. i have done reading but cannot make and sense to any of it. would really like some help thanks everyone. I'll post my cpuid report also.

Hi

First off lower your HTT to x4
Next set your Multiplier to x10
Next run you ram on a divider 166/333.
Next start to raise your FSB in increments of 10 (I.E. 210,220,230,240,250)
You will also need to raise your V.core on your CPU the Higher you go, I dont recommend going over 1.5. Also monitor your temps after raising the V.Core

You can use Prime 95 to check your system stability.

Hang in there
THe 939s are a bit different.. check the FAQs in the link.
First the CPU has an HTT... like an FSB you already know of.
What is different is that the memory controler is on the CPU chip!
What the controler offeres is 5, 4, 3, 2 multiplyers... not to be confused with the CPU's multiplyer.
Becauuse the RAM has to maintain from 800-1000MHz the multiplyer is adjusted to keep in that range. see below
Default MEM Controler or HT or HTT or LDT dependant on the bios is multiplyed by the default CPU's HTT or 200 ...
5x200=1000
use 4x for 201-250 CPU HTT
3x for 251-333

Look somewhere in an advanced features tab of some sort and there will be a setting for RAM speed that currently says 400 mhz. Change it to 333 mhz.

ok i change the ram settings right now i am running at ddr333 instead of the ddr200. what i am confused about is the cpu multiplier. i am not shure where i find that. is it called something special in the bios. i do believe its in the bios menu under (cell menu) but unshure. what exactly is it call cause i see nothing in there with a x10 next to it.

You should know this by now, but in case you don't: I had an MSI-7125, and there's a little red button the motherboard that will reset the CMOS if it refuses to post. If in doubt, press the button.

Also, I think I'm right in saying that the vDimm on that board ain't so hot? If it's Winbond, you may have problems

And yes, the multiplyer is under the cell menu, IIRC. I don't think it's called CPU multiplyer, though - just check every single box until you find something that can increase the multiplyer XD
