CPU Stuck at 800MHz with cool and quiet turned off.

Hi guys, i have a crosshair III motherboard with a phenom II X4 965 cpu. For some strange reason my cpu is stuck at 800mhz even when being stressed with prime 95. This started happening after a bios update but im still not sure if the cpu is broken or not. I would like to downgrade the bios version but no matter what i do i can not make a botable dos usb drive. Ive tried that HP format tool but when i try to boot off it it always says "Remove any disks, Press any key to Restart"

you disabled C1E support, and CnQ and it still does this? Contact ASUS, the chip is fine

You have the latest BIOS (16xx), right? If yes, you have to downgrade your BIOS to 15xx, but it's not working with EZ-FLASH. You will need this http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us
Happened to me, this thing (AFUDOS ENGINEERING) will fix it.
Strange, "cause HP thing worked for me. No problems at all.

You can install quiet and cool through windows but make sure your CPU is really running at 800mhz because with quiet and cool the CPU speed is variable and will go up above 800 when it is under use and some hardware detection methods will only show you the CPU clock as it was when the system booted up. Use CPUz to make sure your CPU speed is not increasing when under load but i suspect that it is.

Stupid answer,but have you gone to the power settings in the control panel,and tried setting to balanced or high performance to see if the clock speed moves up? If it's in power saver,it probably locks @ 800Mhz. Use the CPU-Z tool to monitor your cpu.
EDIT-Good to see that BIOS update fixed the problem!

A downgrade fix better than the buggy upgrade, that returned the CPU to normal after setting back bios=upgrade in a sense.
