I agree But I supposed it depend of how much $ you wanna spend for a video card....

the gto is much better than a 6600gt, and in this article the 1600xt doesnt even beat the x800 or a 6600gt in tests. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2552&p=9

At this point I would say 6800GS. The reason I say this is that it can get an average 9 to 15 frames MORE than the X1600 XT, as shown here and also other game tests. I'm not saying 9 to 15 extra FPS is worth $50, but when you add support for Shader Model 3 and HDR, it is. A lot of good games are starting to use SM3 and HDR, including Half-Life 2 and Far Cry, which (if you play these games) would result in increased longevity.

very interesting link.... I was shure that the x1600xt was better than that. But it support SM3.0 at least. But anyway I changed my mind x1600xt is maybe not A really good choice... Still I'm sellout to nvidia so I wont buy a ATI so consider 6800GS, 6600gt

you cant always recommend the best of everything, we should really respect everyones budget. we have said the 6800gs for $160 is a good buy with sm3 and hdr support. but if he cant spend that much it aint gonna happen. he wont even know he doesnt have sm3 (you cant miss what you never had). and the gto plays lost coast with hdr. also hdr isnt that great to have on the lower end cards since they dont have the power to get good fps anyway so you may end end turning it off or at least to bloom anyway.

edit: f.e.ar uses a demented horribly amazing graphics engine that will make your computer cry. naw it has lots of shading or something and is basically the most demanding game available. i play it with my setup but not on high.

And thats what Sierra recommand for video card:

•256 MB Radeon(R) 9800 Pro, GeForce(TM) 6600 or equivalent DirectX(R) 9
compliant video card with hardware T&L and pixel shader 2.0 support.

So If you pick any of the suggested card in this tread you will be ok to play FEAR, actuly one of the best looking game on PC.(acording to me)

I would go with nVidia for FEAR. The 6800gs should be a lot faster.
