Scythe Samurai

Thread Starter
Well, ive just replaced my stock hs&f for a Scythe Samurai. This beast is enormous, took my idle temp from 51c to 30c and my mb heat from 35c to 27c. Replaced my old 6cm fan to a 8cm fan to give more air, beautiful. Has a nice control knob to adjust fan speed aswell.

Just found out last night my mobo only accepts 2 banks of PC3200 or 4 banks of PC2700, then it hit me, i currently have (PC3200) one stick of ram at one bank and one stick at two banks, in the words of William Shakespeare, 'Ive got too many banks baby'. Now i know why my PC is a pain the a**.

Just keeping an eye on the temp, and its now steading at 42c, with ram at 28c. Smooooooooooooooth.

Shall i stick more case fans in? think ive only got one case fan installed.

Catch ya later

My 2600 ran in the 50's stock, when I oc'd it to 184/15 (I think its been awhile) it's soar into the 60's! I've had it shut down before.

The XPs just like the heat

Any more ideas to get more cooling out of it? the scythe has its fan reversed to draw the heat away rather than blow it down. Ive also reversed my case fan to blow heat out rather than circulate the hot air inside.

And yet im still getting about 50c. just thought i could get it lower. perhaps the xp's are too hot.

The scythe isn't actually very good from what I've heard. The best air coolers are made by Thermaltake and Zalman. I get in the mid 40's load with my 2000+ at stock speeds. OC'd to 1.8GHz, I would go up to about 50.

EDIT: Also, you could pull the lid off of your case to see if temps go down. If they do, you probably need a new case.

ill give it a go. Its an aluminium case, so i dont know if that helps the high heat?? mine is standard at 1.92ghz, and stops at 50c. Maybe my room is too warm.
