What is the best value AM3 chipset?

Thread Starter
Which AM3 chipset is best bang for the buck?

I'm looking to buy a great AM3 board for gaming, I want to take full advantage of both my pci-express slots for crossfire/sli, and I want it to be able to handle future CPU's.

This might not make sense at all, because all I ever build is intel.

Thanks anyways!

790x is the best price/performance for am3

I recommend this board: - it is one of the best amd overclocking boards, it can run 8x 8x crossfire + usb 3.0 and sata 6gb

The AMD 870 chip-set definitely has the best bang for buck. Although it features one PCIe 2.0 slot, most motherboard manufacturers put in two. It basically has only the bare necessities.

Are you going to reuse your DDR2? or are you buying DDR3? That's a question you should answer before anyone recommends you a board.

If you can afford it, I suggest a 890FX board, or look for 890GX.

You can get the old 790 series (solid) or get the new 890. Both are fool proof and great for future ups.
