Edit: Btw, to answer the above 64 bit question, AMD traded 64 bit to Intel for SSE3
It was just a little joke to him saying Intel was behind on the 64 bit... I understand.

Sounds like intel is embaresed where are making slower chips. i think they have every intention to crush amd for good. they have the money and brains to do it.

Really now... How good were those K7 processors back in 1999 when they first came out? The Conroe will evolve to be a better processor, just look at the P4 going from 1.8Ghz to 3.8... The first release isn't the best one they are going to have!
Pauldovi, the first P4's weren't 1.8GHz, while Im unsure what the actual lowEST speed they offered was, both pandapimp and myself have old Dells that have P4 1.6GHz and 1.5GHz respectively (with mine being the slower one) and they are s478 Northwoods I think.

1.3 Was the fastest P3 which led into 1.4 P4 willamettes and into Northwoods.

When I said 1.8, I was assuming you know what I meant. It really is ilrelavent to the topic what the slowest speed was, just the point.

has anyone ever considered this may just be a misleading tease? Lets say the Conroe actually contains 2 cores each operating @ intel's normal 6 ops/cycle, they can play it off as 12 ops per cycle? Just some food for thought and stirring the pot.
