And Ubuntu v10.10 is not working right now, so Mint 9 would be necessary.
ok
new plan..rolleyes.gif
Mint 10>wine>FAH6

Set it up per this guide
http://www.overclock.net/folding-home-guides-tutorials/817550-windows-7-setting-up-bigadv-amd.html

Only thing is, I'm only running smp, on 2 cores...

Best to post in the that guide then; odds are they'll have gone through the same issues.

Z. As a lot of people stated in this thread, when they would click the launcher button, it would open then automatically close really fast. That was happening to me too. Fresh new clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 with the latest updates.

I changed all the ~/ to /home/USERNAME/ and it seemed to fix my problem there. But I encountered another problem.

Quote:
[01:26:33] + Requesting User ID from server
[01:26:33] - Getting ID from AS:
[01:26:33] Connecting to http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/
fah6: relocation error: /lib/libnss_files.so.2: symbol __rawmemchr, version GLIBC_2.2.5 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
folding@folding:~/folding$
Anyways. The fix for that, I found on foldingforum.
here. http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=17272

This piece,

Quote:
Install nscd
#open a terminal
sudo apt-get install nscd
gksu gedit /etc/nscd.conf
# find following line (about line 65):
# enable-cache hosts no
# change "no" to "yes"
# save & exit gedit
sudo service nscd restart
I could write more. But yeah.

~/ is the same as /home/USERNAME/ though.

Anyway, that fix... where would it go in the guide?

Not too sure exactly... lol after, just in case it doesn't work?
But I kind of scraped it. I actually got worse PPD than more.

So this doesn't work on 10.10 yet, right?

Is there any other monitoring software that does?

Hey

I've got a SMP client setup, just wondering whats the safest way to "close" my folder (i run it remotely in shell pushed to the background so it runs while im logged out/disconnected.

for example say i had this
Code:
 9978 ? Tl 0:00 ./fah6 -smp -verbosity 9
 9982 ? S 0:00 sh -c ./FahCore_a3.exe -dir work/ -nice 19 -suffix 03
 9983 ? SNl 62:11 ./FahCore_a3.exe -dir work/ -nice 19 -suffix 03 -np 4
i tried issuing a kill -15 to 9978, it did exit and it did it immediately, and when i restarted my F@H the whole thing restarted from 0% again (it was on 70 something % before closing it). So obviously i don't want to do that again.

Should i issue the kill -15 to 9982 or 9983 (or both) then kill fah6? i see 9983 is the one doing the "work" so speak but what keeps track of how far along/what percentage its up too (to avoid resetting to 0% again)

Cheers!
