Can this guide be applied to 12.04? I thought I did everything right but my launcher just popped up a terminal really fast and POOF it was gone! 
I was using 10.10 but I figured out how to use gnome in 12.04 so I wanted to give it a spin.
I dunno if this screenshot helps but here's my 'fah' file and launcher properties.

Well, I think this needs to be updated for 12.04, the guide kind of somewhat maybe not really works.
I ran through this Guide to run the fah client, and I too got the close really fast. (although at first I didnt even see it), anyways i decided to run
right off the terminal, and the reason why its not working is this.
I want to get maximum PPD, out of this, since im going to be running Bigadv while folding on Xubuntu 12.04
EDIT:
The Fix you linked didnt work, I got through most of the installation with ~/, (well except for the part where your changing the fah, but i cheated and changed it) but even when running

Same question, I'd love to install the client v7 to fold bigadv in Ubuntu. But i can't get it to work
I followed a guide on the internet but it was vague for a first time linux user. Installing fahclient went fine (i think) but when I tried to install fahcontrol, it gave me an error, saying that some python-stuff was missing. I have no idea what that means.
