If you're on 12.04, just install the v7 .debs. I just downloaded them, and installed using the Ubuntu Software Center or whatever (their new package manager), and FAHControl works fine.

i couldn't install fahcontrol. It says that some python-womething was missing.

Geez, when I use Ubuntu i feel like i've never touched a PC in my life. Can't even install a program frown.gif And then they ask me why i stick with windows ...

That's odd. I installed 12.04, everything default, didn't install any extra packages, then just downloaded the client, viewer, and control .debs.

I'll see if my install had python installed by default.

[edit]

Yeah, my install all ready had python, and a bunch of support libraries installed.

yeh, I stuck to windows for a while, and I would have stayed, until that one day.... Windows... decided to corrupt my partition table.... Not only do I want a flexible machine.. I need a stable, and reliable machine.... so i ran to Linux.

You download them from the Stanford website, then just double click them. They open in that Ubuntu Software Center thing by default, and you can just click install.

I'm not sure, when I tried it, the client started folding before I even figured out how to open the FAHControl application, so it never said "Connecting".
