Also you might have to configure speedfan, had to do it a couple times on some motherboards.

I'm wondering if I damaged anything from ripping the cpu out of the socket. Isn't it possible that I damaged something?

Maybe I put too much Arctic Silver on...

well if its workin ok i would think the cpu is fine... but ya need to be more carefull...
and w/ the AS5 you only use a very small drop in the middle of the IHS the size of a BB or so, and let the heatsink squish the AS5 out to the sides....

Well what I did was put a thin even coat of AS5 on first and then I placed a bb-sized drop in the middle and put the heatsink on. But my temps never go above 40 when running Prime95 so I guess I'm fine. What am I worried about then? The diode is probably faulty.

Maybe I should re-apply the AS5?

well if you dont break 40c then temps seem fine, if your bored...lol reapply it... but i dont think that is necessary, and i would love to have those temps man... im frickin running at 58 load and i can afford a new HSF... and i wanna break 4ghz damnit!

Well the CNPS7000B-Cu is really nice. It's really worth it because it not only cools the cpu with the massive copper, but the air circulation is excellent around the videocard/ram as well. It blows air out the sides, not just the top.

But if size is not an issue, get the TTBT or the 7700. But like I sayed, the CNPS creates better air circulation throughout the case and is not so huge.
