The Floor - [Revision]

Well this is the first of my revision updates. All that means is that I'm adding too, or changing an old mod I thought I'd already finished. This ones obviously for the floor, though I'm not sure why I originally called it that as this is actually a mid plate mod.

Anyway, long story short, I wanted a new and improved mid plate.

P1260019.jpg

It doesn't show much but thats the new mid plate which I was cutting to be longer to slot into the drive bay area.

I didn't get any pics of it cut though until later in the update.

P2180006.jpg

I decided I'd super glue the new mid plate straight over the old one. I scratched in all the squiggly lines to help the glue hold them together.

The new mid plate was better, but I didn't do a very good job cutting it or something because it wasn't the exact size I needed around all sides. To remedy that, I decided I'd just fill the gaps with some plastibond rather than make a new plate. But while playing with some fittings, I noticed that if I had one more layer, I could use the fill sets upside down. This meant that the tops would look sleeker and there wouldn't be as much fill set poking out the bottom which really irritated me last time.

P2210009.jpg

With that in mind, I quite happily made yet another mid plate. This time I spent alot more time on it.

The new mid plate turned out heaps better than the old one. Much thanks goes to my reasonably new dremel though no doubt!

Finally, heres the new top layer after having been lightly sanded.

I'm pretty sure I won't be glueing this plate to the rest. I figure it'll be much easier and neater to add the fill set and cable holes this way.

Anyway, thats all for this update, but there will be more modding done on the mid plate once I get some new parts and water gear. Stay tuned.

Thanks dude! I thought quite alot about lighting the midplate but in my opinion, its been done too much so I lost interest. I still love the look of lit midplates in other builds though. I don't really think it would suit this build or its theme much anyway.

Also check out what I did yesterday.

I dropped my 360 rad fins down onto my knee. The rad clearly won the fight though with only 4 slightly bent fins verses what looks like cuts from about 14 or so on my knee.

Pfft, like you even have to ask! I'll print a thousand screenshots, put them all together in reverse order, staple down one side and then use them like a flip book thing. Pure graphic pleasure!

I think you're the first person to point that out apart from me. The funny thing is that only a few hours before you posted this, I almost changed that New Model. Original Parts. cause the whole thing is nearly new now. Anyway, I enjoyed reading through this post. +rep.
