Ati 1900xt

Thread Starter
Last night I purchased a ATI 1900xt and low and behold ATI doesnt put the 4pin to 6pin power dongle for PCI-E cards in the box. From what I have seen this is a known screw up on ATI's part. Since I dont care to go online and order one (paying for a 9.99 part and paying for shipping on it just dont seem right.) I was hoping to go into a store and buy one instead. Does anyone know of any General Retail stores that might carry the item, like Frys or Best Buy or Radio Shack?

If I cant find one local I will probally return the card and just get a 7800GTX or something nvidia since I have never had any problems with their cards. However I really dont wanna do that, because this card is apparently much better from what I have seen on different sites.

welcome mate to the forums put in yor details under user cp at the top left of the page so we can see what you are running and will help us all in the future. As for the missing part why dont you just email or ring the company that built and packaged your card and get them to send the replacement part, they should do it for free if it was thir fault. As for sticking with the ATI 1900 vid card- stick with it as it is more powerful than the current top nvidia card at the moment. Persist and get the parts needed to get it running.

What pain in the ass, why don't you call ATI and ask them to send you out one for free?

Or, this may be a good chance to upgrade your PSU with one already on there, mines got one..

Either way, I wouldnt be happy with ATI! I have a sapphire x1900 XT and it did come with that cable,

Well here is the thing, the board I have right now which I did add to my sig now btw (Thnx for pointing that out) has my AGP card [BFG 6800GT] in it right now, and for some reason my card wont overclock as high as it did with my last board even though I now have a better PS and Processor. I think it has something to do with the way I updated the AGP driver but no matter how many times I try to uninstall and reinstall it I get the same low preformance out of it. Will only let me OC at 380/1.04 when before I was able to keep it at 410/1.15 with no problems at all.

Since I am a gamer and my newest console is lacking games I dont want to wait if I dont have to for ATI to send me a Dongle. After going back over some benchmarks I am gonna keep the card I just dont want to wait another few days or a week before I can use it. It would be nice to just walk into frys and pay like 6 bucks for the dongle and be done with it. I just dont know if they have it since thier website doesnt allways show what they have in the store.

Edit
Well it looks like I might just go with a new powersupply. Any ideas for a new other than the one above this post and prices maybe.

A very good idea. I like FSP (Fortron) for single card

FSP550-80GLN

4 X 12V Rails @ 15Amps each = 60Amps total for 12V. Excellent overvoltage with 22V on each of the 12V Rails with an active power correction circuit to smooth out any ripples.

http://www.fsp-group.com.tw/english/...d=52&proid=497

For a non-sli machine this is one of the best around. I have the FSP550-60GLN on both my wife and my Intel systems with 1GHz overclocks and nary a ripple. I would have gone for this model had it been around when I was researching.
