Coolbits tweaking for 6600GT? - Page 2

yup, it looks like you have already run the coolbits prog, it just adds a registry key and then you go to your nvidia utility and go to "clock frequency" then hit detect optimal frequency, check the "apply settings at startup" and your good to go, then if you have no artifacts, you can overclock further from what it detected as optimal.....

So i did the detect optimal frequency and the core is at 555 mhz and the memory clock is at 1.11 ghz. a small improvment from 525 mhz and 1.01 ghz i guess.

Small improvement, but an improvement nonetheless.

Coolbits can be on the conservative side too, so try tweaking it 3-5 MHz at a time until you get artifacts.

What kind of cooling do you have for the card? This plays an important role in the overclockability of the card.

Dots, jaggy markings, anything out of the ordinary in 3D applications (typically doesn't happen, or is not common in 2D apps).

With that zalman, you should be able to push it a little further. Most 6600gt's I know of clock very well. My wife's does (and it's a rosewill!! lol)

No, the memory and core sliders can be moved indepently. Increasing the memory frequency will have a larger effect on performance, but is usually the more reluctant of the two to overclock.
