What's wrong with my pc?

Well it's just making these really loud, annoying sounds ALL THE TIME. It's really pissing me off so I figure you guys can help me.

I'm guessing it could be fan noise, it doesn't sound much like air though. The sounds are like horrible crunching sounds (I really should record them). The pc didn't make these sounds when it was brand new.

Well, so I downloaded SpeedFan and messed around with it a bit, not seeing any change though, however I noticed something quite interesting. If you give the pc a little tap, the sound stops for a second and one of the fans' speed goes up to like 7337 RPM. Please note that I don't go hitting my pc though =)

So does anyone know what's wrong?

Here's the pic of what I saw in SpeedFan:

I'd be really glad if any of you could help. This has been bugging me for months, it's just gotten a lot worse recently.

Check to make sure your fan isn't hitting against a wire or anything. Also, check the fans to see if any blades are chipped. This could cause an imbalance, creating noise.

You could just have crappy fans that are dying. Get some new ones from xoxide or frozencpu and you'll notice a big difference.

Shall I replace both of them? And which new fans should I buy?

could be the northbridge fan.... that 7k rpm sure looks like it

my NB goes 6k rpm... randomly i've seen it drop to 3k & bounce around speeds while at that time makes loud buzzing it's known that it's common for my mobo's NB fan to fail... i wanna get non fan heatsink for it sometime

cpu fan is i guess fine if it doesnt change much speed

Okay so I finally open the pc open and have a little look. Now I have a look at all the fans. So I see this cute little fan, with ASUS printed on it, which is making the terrible sounds. All the other fans are fine. So what have we here? Is this my asus cool n quiet fan messing around?

That is your chipset fan. I heard that some asus chipset fans needed to be replaced.

You definitely need a new NB fan, I would recommend a passive HS though as they can not fail and fry your mobo.

AAAH! What's an NB and what's a HS? Sorry man. I kind of lack knowledge about air cooling

What exactly shall I buy?

NB = NorthBridge controller (this is typically a chip that manages the onboard devices)

HS = heatsink (the piece of metal that conducts heat away from heatproducing chips)

The Zalman NB47J is a decent fanless cooler. As long as the case has adequate airflow, it'll do the job.
