Pretty much spot on since you're most likely using all High Settings.

When you run BF2 next time, open your task manager and see how much RAM it's taking up, I've seen it as high at 800MB on my system

Yes it would....the added ram, also depending on where the server is located can be a factor causing lag or load time. What are you pinging at ?

I would run it on Med-High settings wiht 1 gig and it would get a little laggy, but on Medium settings you have a good mix of CPU and GPU calculations, when using High settings on a high resolution the need for RAM increases.

Also, I suggest you be Hardlined into the router or modem instead of using wireless (if that's your case).

To use less Ram remove the movies from it. Go to your EA game folder and than to BF2>Mods>bf2>Movies than remove the movies but do not delete make a folder for them on in your Documents so if anything happens you can just put them back. When you Run BF2 it will start up alot faster and will use less Ram.

I suggest to NOT do that because you might find that you cannot go on ranked servers since they think your files are modified.

My roommate did it to his and I spent a good 5 minuteds just trying to find a server to let me on when my comp was down. For the 10 seconds of movies compared to trying to find a server is not worth it, and I dont see how removing file will decrease the amount of RAM used, it's mainly based on the textures and quality of the objects being rendered and what it needs to run, not two 5 sec movies (i know the second is longer but it takes about 5 sec in order to escape out of it)

No, He means the movies when you first load the game and such.

I've taken all mine out, Then I got a wicked replacement video for the menu screen (The music is the SHIZ!) and I havn't had a problem since.

Its when you start to modify in-game skins, Textures and stuff of that sort that you will get busted.

ALSO, If your getting bad lag, Try switch your Textures to medium. Textures on high will either take a while to move itself from the page-file to the ram, then run smooth, Or it just won't move at all and you'll lag uncontrollably the whole time. Its generally for 1.5GB+

With 1GB, Your best with LOW/MEDIUM Textures.

put the graphics to med.-low and exit out of aim,quicktime,limewire...
