cant get past 2.4ghz on my 4400+

Thread Starter
ok ram is on a divider just to make sure its not ram.

when voltage is set to auto in the bios it shows 1.36 (i manually set it to 1.35 in bios and it shows 1.36 in speedfan) so we are looking at like a .01 difference between the bios and speedfan.....

i can run stable at 220fsb x 11 = 2.4ghz

i then try 230fsb x 11 = 2.5ghz
I bumped up vcore manually set my voltage to 1.45 in the bios it shows 1.41 in speedfan (basicly i can keep upping the volts and speed fan doesnt show over 1.41, my cpu doesnt get hotter either)
my 12v rail shows 11.71 in speedfan

at this point could it be my PS thats holding me back?? i know its still not the ram cause its still on a divider @ 180mhz

Basically +12V rail should be just that, over 12V. If it does not you will have little or no ability to OC any further.

You know what? I have this same exact problem, SAME PROBLEM. I've been trying to get an answer like forever, can someone help us? Mine too wont go over 1.42 in speedfan even if i set it to 1.5. This shouldnt happen, do you guys think its cause of the power supply? Everything in my Computer is top of the line based on my specs except for the PSU, and video card but that doesnt matter. The reason i even got to 2.61ghz is because i the new asus A8N32 Sli Deluxe mobo and I had to set my voltage at 1.33 volts and use the overvoltage feature which sets the voltage to 1.2volts higher than it usually is. Does anyone know if the PSU is the problem?

Yes, the problem is very likely PSU related.

What is the amperage of your 12v rail?
So then what PSU should I look into buying? I mean are there certain specifications for it? Because my PSU is already 550 Watts, I dunno what the problem could be. Should I get like a 600 Watt and up?

I dunno what amperage means but this is what it says on my Speed fan:

+3.3V: 3.25V
+5V: 5.03
+12V: 11.71V
-12V: -1.50V
-5V: -8.78V
+5V: 5.03V

Logisys make terrible PSU's rated very high but useless. Here's an exercise for you to do that will help you see this companies method.

Remove the PSU and weigh it. See how light it is. My advice is to look for a PSU from Fortron/Antec/PC Power and Coolin and look for ~500Watts.

Take a look at them and feel the weight of them. You will then see the difference.

So the heavier the better? Cause my PSU is light as hell. And would it be ok to get 600 and up? Cause mine is already 550. And what about a 600 Watt Aspire PSU? Do you think that would work? I can't really feel how heavy it is because I order from newegg.com :\\

A good 550 would be easily be enough. The problems is that your PSU is not good, it is terrible. You would have killed it if you had a high output video card such as a 6800 GT etc.

Don't try and compare the output of that Logisys and a "Real" PSU. You can go to 600 and up if you wish but normally that is in the realm of SLi. If you are thinking of moving to SLi then research well and find an SLi capable and ready PSU unit.
