Help with new Build ($1500-1750)

Thread Starter
So, basically, I've been very torn on which direction to go with my new build. At this point, I've argued with myself so much that the only thing I'm quite sure of is that I want:

[Case]: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112224

Other than that, I'm really torn over what to do. It will mainly be used as a new gaming PC, though other uses are occasional graphic design (recreational), media storage (lots of music/movies) and coding. I'm looking for a computer in the $1500-1750 range, where the price would include all PC parts and the tower. No peripherals or monitors.

I've been struggling between an i7 build and a build using the Phenom X6, so I was hoping to give you guys some freedom to help me and design the build from scratch. I actually want to really lay down a plan and start ordering parts tomorrow, so I guess I'm kind of in an excited rush, but don't want to order parts I'm going to regret (buyer's remorse is quite common with me).

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I also believe I want a 6 GB/s mobo that supports USB 3.0. I want to add a Blu-Ray drive in the future, if not initially.

EDIT2: I have a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thanks for the help!

Go amd. It has much better performance for the price.

Here is my reccomended build. All parts are from newegg.

CPU Amd 1090t BE (x4 3.2 gHz) - 300$
GPU Ati 5970 2GB - 600$
PSU Corsair 850hx - 170$
MOBO MSI 790x ATX - 95$
RAM Kingston HyperX 4x2 GB DDR2 - 215$
Case HEC Mid ATX Gaming Case - 60$
Optical Drive Sony Optarc Dvd/Cd RW - 24$
Hard Drive Hitachi 1TB 7200rpm - 75$
WD 128 GB SSD - 250$

All this ads up to about 1690 $ + ~50$ worth of shipping.

If there is something that you dont need in there or want to switch out because of budget/performance (maybe the RAM+ Mobo?) you may have to sacrifice something else like a power supply thats not as good or a cheaper case...

Thats just my 2 cents

EDIT:

If you want links, PM me and I will send you links for the parts you want.

I mentioned the monitor in the original post. At this point, I'm going to change it and just say flat out no. I already have a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, forgot to include.

instead of the monitor get a blue ray drive

I would actually like to change my build...

Different colored words are parts that I changed

----CPU Amd 1090t BE (x4 3.2 gHz) - 310$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849&cm_re=1090t-_-19-103-849-_-Product
----GPU Ati 5870 1GB - 400$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-316-_-Product
----PSU Corsair 750hx - 100$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-006-_-Product
----MOBO ASUS 890GX 6gbps 2xusb 3.0 4xusb 2.0 (as you specified - 140$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131631
----RAM Giel 4x2gb DDR3 1333 - 225$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-388-_-Product
----Case LIAN ATX Case (the one you specified) - 230$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112224
----Optical Drive Sony Optarc Dvd/Cd RW - 22$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-032-_-Product
----Hard Drive Hitachi 1TB 7200rpm - 80$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-287-_-Product
----WD 128 GB SSD - 250$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=wd%20128gb

Price comes out to exactly 1757 plus 40 or so dollars worth of shipping.
I highly reccommend this build for gaming. Sorry its a little over your budget.

If its too expensive like it is you could go with this RAM: 3x2gb Giel DDR3 1333 - 150$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-287-_-Product

That would put you at about 1682 + 40 or so dollars. (~1720$)
That way you could also get this bluray player: Asus 4x BluRay rom 8x Dvd-Rom 32x CD Rom - 60$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-205-_-Product

If you got the 6gb and no bluray drive the price would be ~1680$ + ~40$ shipping (~1720$)
If you got the 8gb and no bluray drive the price would be ~1760$ + ~40$ shipping (~1800$)
If you got the 6gb and the bluray drive the price would be ~1740$ + ~40$ shipping (~1780$)
If you got the 8gb and the bluray drive the price would be ~1820$ + ~40$ shipping (~1860) - Quite a bit over your budget..
