Asus 7800gt temps

Thread Starter
Hi!

I'm wondering wath are the safe temps for the 7800gt. I got a good case, great ventilation but when I play games ( you must know that I play all my games at 1600x1200 with lot of eye candy AA & AF) my card can go to 76 degree celcius. The card is stock nothing overclocked. And yesterday I rise (in the bios) my FSB (stock: 200 x 11) to 233 x 10 and everithing was running good but I noticed that my 7800gt now idle to 50 and can go up to 82 degre celcius in full load...

I think that 82 is not good at all... what's your thought and what's your temps??

i think 82 is a little high. What are your other temps? You might consider buying a slot blower to keep the vid card cool. 82 might not hurt it but it will shorten the life of the card.

My temps are 45c idle and 55-60c full load and thats oc'd.

I'm very surprised by your temps... I mean both of you don't even get to 70. I'm not even overclock and I break the 75. there is something wrong for shure. I have a 120mm blowing rignt on the card, I cant put a slot blower because i'm waiting for an other 7800gt for sli and I already have a sound card betwin the two pci-e slots... Do you have the stock fan and heat sink?

other temps: cpu 34 load:44
MB: 39 load: 45

Well your temps are based off your ambient (room) temp, in the morning my temps are 45*C but by the end of the day they're around 48-50*C idle, and I do notice my room is hotter so thats because of the system being on all day.

As far as the load temps, the 72*C is actually normal for stock cooling on some cards. Your card can actually handle a pretty high temp, but I wouldn't want to keep it higher since there's more of a chance of failure at constant high temps, plus artifacting.

Pick yourself up one of these, probably the cheapest you'll find NV Silencers and will be much better over stock cooling, it keeps mine a little cooler under load but I'll take lower even if it's 5*C compared to my CO cooler that was originall on it

Is this a dual slot VGA cooler or this one is alomost the same size as the stock one??? but 80 is way to hot I have to do something about that. When i'll got my new card i'll check if really it a cooler issue. I think that maybe the card is defective and overheat.

The NV Silencer takes up a slot to vent out the extra Air, I'll take a pic of it in my system and post it later, probably around 5pm
