Celeron D Outperforms P4 670! - Page 2

Don't forget they used an engineering sample! The real cpu probably won't do so well.

Nah, the multipliers are useless, but overclock the FX also. It's kind of retarded to compare a stock versus modified product. I can trick out a Toyota to beat a Ferarri, but what does that prove?? You can trick the Ferarri out, too.

Maybe all you need is the ferarri speed, so you save money and trick the toyota...

For some reason i doubt the move to 65nm technology will all of a sudden make procs break 5ghz on air. You'll need more much more than air cooling to do that, negating your price for performance argument. I would like to see it (i love the rising competition), however, i'll take this claim with a huge bag of salt. And like someone said before, it's pretty shameful that have to clock it that ridiculously high to beat the pentium.

It's a good point if you were to leave a 670 @ stock but we all know that Pentium CPUs are meant to run overclocked.

Ah! let's see;
My 660 @ 4.23ghz CPU Mark in 3DMark06 = 1289. 5Ghz Cely = 1260. Not bad.

My old 650 @ 4.02ghz CPU Mark in 3DMark05 = 6938. 5Ghz Cely = 5990. ah ok!

BTW, I got my 660 for $200....bought used.
Currently at:

Pentium 4s (which Ds derive from) are meant to have high clocks, it's the purpose of Netburst (to some point), and the reason why they pack 31 stage-pipelines compared to a 2.0ghz Dothan or Yonah which only pack about 14-16 stage pipelines. Northwoods topped at 3.4ghz and rarely saw one braking the 4.0ghz barrier, due mostly to the 20 stage-pipelines.

Enter Prescotts and their 31 stage and they clock sky high!, how high? See for yourselves.

You got a point there...
More FSB = More heat, even with the multi bumped down. But yeah, ever wonder why CPUs with unlocked multipliers OC really really well? Yeah, the Inquirer isn't always the most reliable tech news source.

Man i thought Intel owned the personal server cpus that are home based., i guess i was wrong, i always hear what these opterons can do, and how crazy they over clock and how they are made with quality and tested for it, to this day i have never seen one of these boards on the forum, or any review, i just cant imagine 4 opterons with up to 64gb of memory communicating with each other for one task say, to fold a 500 frame WU, how long would it take?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...08#DetailSpecs

btw since almost all of tyan's mobos are amd oreinted(sp?) i can see how intel is slowly losing the race to be the best. High FSB and Huge L2 Cache isnt everything it just creates more heat, and considering those the bases of the company, customers are easily fooled ( ofcourse the ones buying those dells, and hp models, that dont know much ), they look at a 3.2 ghz intel and then compare it to an AMD 2.4 or 2.2ghz cpu and you know which one they pick.

Someone here got a Pentium D 955XE to 5GHz on water and thats a dual core so a single core should have no problem getting that on air since it only puts out half the heat.
Very nice!

and if you look very closely at aibooster you will see the temperature. 233c

i doubt that systems trueness! it also shows the fans at 0rpms?

i mean i can take a screenshot of my system perfomance stats and upload em to a forum too.

but i can also edit it too. using just basic paint! im guessing so can he!
