Well we're on the same boat thats why i bought that damn ultra-d and all this extra crap, but guess what i wasnt able to push it any higher my msi was actually better. but it wont hurt to try just will cost u alot of money. anyways about ur OC problem, The set up u had on ur old asus wouldnt work on the dfi. thats just how it is. u have to tinker a lil bit more. Do this Flash ur bios to 623-3 If u dont have that bios.
Dram: 166 ( assuming u have pc3200 )
Timing : stock
CPC: disable/auto try using 2t first (enabled 1t)
Fsb: 273
Multi: x11
Htt: x4 / x3 <-- (explanation to follow)
Vcore: 1.525 or 1.425 <--(explanation to follow)
V special: 104% or 113% <--(explanation to follow)
Vdimm: suggested voltage
Ldt V: 1.30
Nforce: 1.60 or was it 2.60.. Cant remember aslong its higher than stock settings.

Explanation
1. For some odd reason on my ultra-d with 623-3 bios it wouldnt boot up using x3 htt had to use x4
2. If you use 1.525 + 104% = 1.586 according to bios but once u enter windows it should drop.
3. 1.425 + 113% = 1.610 according to bios but once u enter windows it should drop.

Now if that set up is bootable and still wont let u pass prime u may have to play a lil bit with the voltage. and try using the 2 "YELLOW" ram slot instead of yellow and orange slots. If that still doesnt work lower ur fsb and figure out what OC is passable and stable from there work on increasing the fsb and voltage. Trust me took me 2 days to figure out what works.

WEll right now u cant tell if its the ram or or cpu, im just assuming its the ram thats not stable right now. since u said u had a stable oc ur old asus mobo. by the way like i said previously i had that same issue with dfi mobo i was 2.97 stable and wanted to hit 3.0 but turns out with dfi i can only go 2.95g its much lower.
