[Gizmodo] Two Million People Now Own iPads - Page 6

People hating on the iPad for the sake of hating Apple Products needs to seriously shut the **** up. It's interesting, because there are a myriad of valid complaints against the proprietary direction Apple is taking computing, but none of you ass kissing fan boys have mentioned any of those valid complaints. Just mindless fanboy rhetoric.

"ONO ITS BIG PHONE! I HTAES IT! I HTAES APPLES!"

Like, really? ****in' really?

Apple prices products compared to other iphone products

iPhone $200-$300
Ipad $500-$830
Macbook $999
MacBook pro $1199- $2299

See how apple pricing works, the more you pay the better you get. In between each product there is a $200 dollar gap.
Wrong. They have no real estimate of the costs for the A4 SoC unless apple released the R&D development costs, which apple will not do. So that price is inaccurate.

I dislike apple for just about everything they do. Now, being neutral, I think that apple makes good products. They are well presented and fairly well constructed. My biggest problem with them? Price. I have an Alienware Laptop with a i7 720QM, 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, 300GB Drive, an nVidia GTX 260M, and a 15.6in LED LCD display. Cost? $1600. That is lower than the lowest priced macbook pro with far superior hardware. I wouldn't have such a sour taste for Apple if they knew how to price products. Sadly many of their customers I have talked to do not realize this.

Now about the iPad, I have used a few. Is it a great device? Yes. Does it do things that nothing else can do? Not really. Price? Makes me want to gag. $500 for something that does less than my iPhone with only a bigger display and, after the next gen iPhone, the same CPU? I just find it hard to look at paying a $500 price tag for that. If they could price the iPad 200-300, it'd be far more worth it.

EDIT: And one thing that I love Apple for, their marketing. They are truly the best at their game. I can't tell you how many times I've had someone pretty much repeat an Apple advertisement saying something like they don't get viruses, only to prove them wrong and give them reason for the misleading statement. Oh well. Good job Apple either way

You're stating a very personalized definition of value here. The average user does not need a monster mobile-gaming rig. The average user might prefer usability and design over raw power, especially if my usage of said product caps out at OpenGL games and word processing.

Apple products are fairly expensive, but you're acting like the margins on Apple products are in the thousands of %s; like someone at Apple is swimming in money like Scrooge McDuck off of every iPad sold. This really isn't the case and provides a very narrow, closed view of the truth of the mobile computing market. Apple has succeeded for accomplishing what other companies failed miserably to do -to take computing away from nerds like you and me that even know what a gigahertz is and put it in the hands of the general populous.

Even though that is nto the official numbers they are fairly close to the real deal but even if it only cost $60 to make they would still sell it for $500.

I suppose you're right and that my post had a more opinionated tone than I wanted. To sum it up more simply: I like apple products. They are presented well and are very user friendly. They have a great support system and they are great at what they do. I mean walk into any apple store and it's mobbed. I just wish they cost less. If they did I would surely own one. I DO own a macbook pro (2006) and it's a nice computer. Apple just knows their market and knows that the majority of their users don't know the price of the hardware in it. They just like apple for apple. It's just a shame they can't make it more affordable. But as I said, I like apple, just not the price tag tied to them

Woot, the last time I checked there were about 2 billion computers in the world. With about 5% being apple. Apple hardware is ridiculously expensive, in fact it's bloody profiteering. here is some evidence. As for the i-pad, it's pretty meh in my opinion, the damn thing has feeble hardware. For example, it will never be able to run multiple resource intensive apps without maxing the ram. There is alot of stuff just off the pipeline that will out perform it at a lower cost. The eeepad is a case in point.

As for apple as a company, they are nazi's. There are a bunch of US government lawsuits building up against apple, and I sincerely hope apple gets screwed over badly. Not because of some petty vendetta, but because they completely bully app developers and squashes all competition to the app store.

[Teh Root]: the damn processor is an A4, not an automated blowjob dispenser, it offers nothing magical not even multi threading. no matter what R&D apple puts on it. It's still only going to be worth, 35 dollars max.
