So I built the machine you see in my sig to game. Pure and simple. Simple problem is that I am getting craploads of nv4_disp.dll BSOD's and it is pissing me off. It is ridiculous that NVidia can get away with this crap. Anyway, I am tired of it. If there are any better drivers out there, please let me know. I am currently using the Forceware 81.98, but might have the Dhzerpoint drivers somewhere (I cannot find a link if someone has it). Any other solutions? I am just wondering if this is going to be ongoing and if I should cut bait on NVidia.

i thought the two cards you use for SLi had to be the exact same card, i'm probably wrong, but if not then that might be the case

Hmm...Have you reformatted with the same errors? It may not be a display driver error, more of a general display fault and it's outputting the nv4 driver error as a general output.

Try Driver Cleaner Pro in safe mode. Then, re-install the new drivers. This may help, I dono.

Try runing memtest86, i was getting BSOD's a lot and some of of them did have a nvidia driver file in the BSOD error message, the problem causing this was bad ram throwing errors fast in memtest.

The latest revision of the driver allows you to use 2 of the same series card, they don't have to be indentical anymore. But this is new feature that probably has many bugs still. Wait it out a lil and try diff drivers.

I was getting this driver on my older system (AMD64 3200+, 939 pin) that had the BFG 7800 GT in it. I transplanted it to this system and it still has it. I have read a lot that the 7800 GT can be plagued with this problem. It is not an old driver thing, since this is the only driver it has ever had in this system. I will try memtest, but this is brand new memory in this system. I think it has more to do with the 7800 GT screwing with me. I cannot even finish a damn level of BF2 and it is killing me. I have to use my home system of P4 3.0, 2 RAM and X800 XL to play it.

Try swapping the X800XL and see if it works. Also try removing one 7800GT and then the other to see if its just one that has a problem.

The more I am reading online about this problem, the more angry I am getting. No one has found a good cure and it seems to be entirely random, which makes it so much more fun. I will say it tends to be much more prevalent with the 7800GT/GTX line lately, and very prevalent among X2 CPU's. I am going to try to get rid of the NF4 drives for IDE (which is stupid, since I am in RAID), the NF4 RAID drivers, and check a few other things. That 1900XTX is looking tempting if I can get $500 for my pair of 7800 GT's.

What are the chances it is a faulty BFG card? I am gonna yank it from the rig tomorrow and see how the eVGA does on its own. Since the BFG also did it in the other system, makes you wonder, no?

Hopefully they won't be dorks about RMA'ing it.
