Thank you Mr. shajbot

I'm going to try it just the way is says. It will take a while so don't stay up on my account. I will post my results when I'm done or in the morning if I give up for the night.

I was qurious if you use the KDE environment instead of gnome like they recommend?

Thank you for the link!

Well I tried installing with both environments, same thing both ways. I am going to have to figure out this grub thing. It's suppose to be the OS boot loader program which is required. Just not sure why it didn't configure when Fedora is the only OS on the drive.

Well tomorrow's another day. Maybe I will have better luck then.

Hi compaddict,

Man I don't know what is wrong or should I say different? I think grub is boot loader, but how that is still coming up after starting fresh beats me...

Well I see shajbot's involved. He's really smart and a really nice guy. Some how, some way, we'll get you going... It's 4:00am right now and I think everybody's in bed. I'm home all day today so we'll talk or is that write?

Take care and Hang in there, :-)

PS> The calvary is coming!

Hi Buick,

Yeah, it's just weird. I found this: " Your completed Fedora Core installation must be registered in the boot loader to boot properly. A boot loader is software on your machine that locates and starts the operating system.", I'll start there. I have to go into town for a while this morning and will try to figure it out when I get back. Right now I have my XP drive in and folding.

Alright, Compaddict, I want you to go through the installation again, this time, when you get to the screen above, I want you to click on the drop down box and choose create custom layout and click on advanced storage configuration and set partition for swap, root and home. Take me a picture if you can. I'll try to run Fedora Core 6 installation again see if I can give any more detail instruction after I return from school. Stay tune.

I don't know if we intentionally take two week breaks. I know I get busy and so do you guys. I'm here a lot this past week because of my leg. I'm still resting it and have not gone back to work yet. Maybe next week? However, I've got to go to Daytona this weekend. So it better be up to the task, or wheelchair here I come! I'm going to the NASCAR race! It's also the first time for me in 54 years visiting Florida... Imagine that!

BTW - Is your computer still running? Do you still need a motherboard??

Take care, :-)
Hey guys, Buick tomorow my parts should be here, (as i hope anyway, i sure hope nothing happens in them going through the snow storm), and i will stick the video card in and see if its boots, the last time i got the screen to work it was operating system, or not that but the file umm c/windows/system/config or something was corrupted or deleted, but each time i put my windows disks in it was get a fuzzy screen. Anyway, before i put new cpu in i will try video card to backup some data, and iv already downloaded discs 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, not 6 though. Although i only had enough time to burn 1 and 2 since you guys said thats all i needed. Anyway, each time iv tried after i let it sit for that night, everything spun up. Im not sure what was going on. Next time i hit the power button ill keep a eye on that pin and see if anything happens. I got this motherboard from a friend 2 years ago that bought a 7800GTX and this came free with it, so i CANT RMA since i dont have the original invoice/reciept....... So boo to that idea. So if i need a new motherboard ill let you guys know, and iv got no clue how long it would be before i got money for one so that will be a loss of probably 5-6k points a week for the team (and me .)But also, i WILL have a x1950 to fold with for a back-up. And maybe in time ill gather some money and buick would trade my card and some money for a XTX of his Yea i dream a lot.

Hi cappy,

Whew that was a lot of info there... So you're getting new parts tomorrow. Ok and the current rig is having some video card/ screen problems, Ok. You've tried a friends card a 7800GTX, but things weren't much better. Ok
Now if you need a new motherboard you'll let us know, Great! You might even want to trade a X1950??? for a motherboard, right?

Well let's see... The X1950(XT)(XTX)(Pro) which is it? The video card is worth about $200.00 - $250.00, correct... The motherboard might be worth $170.00 - $200.00 on the outside. Am I seeing this correctly?? As for the exchange, anything is possible... Well keep in touch.

Take care and I hope you get all of your issues worked out! Whew... Those a lot of issues, ;-)

Hi shajbot,

The Fedora 6 disks compaddict has are the 64 bit version, not the 32 bit. He wants to fold with an SMP client, like me, using Fedora 6.

When I got to the screen shot above, I don't remember the choices, but I don't think I went with the default. I just can't remember and it was only last week. Then again I might have used the default to allow Fedora to set itself up on the default partition. Man I'm getting way too old...
The other critical path was the password stuff. You have to put that into place. It will be used every time the system goes into sleep mode for non use.

I'll follow along with this help/info of the install and add what I can without screwing things up...

Thanks for assisting compaddict. He is as nice as you! :-)

I need to reword that. No, i got my motherboard free from a buddy that bought a 7800. so therefore, i cannot rma it since i dont have the invoice/reciept. And for the trade, well just forget i said anything. It would still costs to much money that i dont have atm since im in need of a job.
Heres where my parts are atm. Bold is where its at.
