I have Buicks master disks and installing with them. I didn't select Office and Productivity since it looked like you unchecked it (I checked it this time). That is the screen if you hit "Optional Packages", gives you a ton of things to choose from. One is to use either Gnome or KDE environment, that's why I asked earlier which one you used.

I've never gotten in there, just unchecked the Office Productivity and Next on...

Ok fellas,

I took the plunge. newegg had the AMD64 X2 4400+ on sale for $179.99. I bought it!! Should arrive in about 3 days...

When I get the disks back from compaddict and if cappy does not need them, I'll have the 2nd SMP folding rig up and running by the end of the month!

That should give us - Folders Inc - a good run at the team competition for March. So set your sights on getting all of your rigs stable and ready for battle...

Go Folders Inc Go!!

No go.

I'm done for tonight, will try some things tomorrow. Thanks!

Hey shajbot,

Why if compaddict is using the same Fedora 6 disks as I used and will use again, is he getting this Grub boot loader message?? He's had it from the start. Is there something I'm missing? I didn't get that message or have the problems he's having. Maybe I missed a bullet...

I hope my second try and setting up an SMP folding rig DOES NOT go as badly as my attempt at setting up a 2nd gpu rig... I will be mortified!

BTW - Remember to tell your girlfriends/Moms or special sweety "Happy Valentines Day!"

Take care and Fold On! :-)

Speaking of Valentines Day...

I got this a long time ago from Reader's Digest, I think. However it still holds true today. For that "Special date":

Valentine Date Etiquette

1. If you're choosing the restaurant, run it past three platonic girlfriends. You might love the local trattoria for its friendly waiters and free Limoncello, but it's the ladies who remember bad lighting, dingy bathrooms and day-old fruit garnishes.

2. Pick a date up for dinner, even if she lives next door; and if you're having drinks after work, swing by the office. Meeting at the restaurant simply reads as half-hearted. Women appreciate men who put their needs first, if just for the night.

3. For the love of button downs, don't you dare tuck in your shirt! Unless you're dining at the country club or a jacket-required establishment, you'll risk looking like your father en route to the 18th hole (and there's nothing hot about that). (I never understood this one. Just dress appropriately!)

4. Pay your date a very specific compliment that shows you're paying attention. Nice eyes? She's heard it. Cute dimples? Much better.

5. When looking over the menu, ask if she's a sharer. If she loves variety, suggest small dishes to split-or swap plates halfway through the meal if you feel at ease.

6. Save the "Notice me!" soliloquy for Mom and Dad-that is, until your date asks about you. Because she will, if you let her steer the chit-chat. One man's self-involved boast is another's self-aware banter. It just depends who's inquiring.

7. Slide one sensitive topic about yourself into conversation and ask your date's opinion about it. This moment will be more memorable than the pricey dim sum or your canned jokes, since it's laced with trust, sincerity and vulnerability.

8. Keep PDA on the DL and Turn off those cell phones! Remember it's you and her! A hand on the leg is too forward for a first date, but snuggling close in the corner banquet, with a kiss on the forehead, is just right.

9. Suggest a decadent dessert, even if she hesitates or says she's full. Every woman wants to secretly sample the chocolate mousse torte, though society prefers she order sherbet. Lift the burden, and try not to stare when she eats more than half.

10. Pay the bill, already. She'll do the faux wallet-reach, but that doesn't mean she actually wants to reach inside. If this one's a keeper, she'll pick-up the nightcap.

I hope this helps you break the ice or at least lets you have a good time!

Lol thanks buick, but I have no date.... Might come in handy sometimes, eventually... as always, one can just hope.

Have fun everyone else!

Got my parts, and put the video card in, and saw a huge spark, came from my ethernet card... so i take that out and hit the switch again and everything spins up but nothing on the screen, monitor didnt even go out of sleep mode. So, buick are you coming my way anytime soon? If so, bring one of your socket 939 computers so we can attempt to trouble shoot mine. But if not, i "should" be able to buy a new motherboard soon. Oh and of course, i got the crappiest stepping for the opty 165......
lcb9e. But its a nice heat sink and fan, but i probably will still use the zalman
btw that opty pic i took looks sweet

Hi cappy,

So the short is in the Ethernet card, huh?? I'm glad you were able to find it... As for going South. I'm going South this weekend, but it's to Daytona!! I'll be at the Daytona 500 NASCAR race with my daughter Tanya...

As for troubleshooting the socket 939 computers? Let me get this right, you want to place possible bad parts in my working system?? Very funny... he,he,he

As for the heatsink for the Opty, is the heatsink one of those copper ones with the heat tubes?? I have one of those on my X2 4400+. It's a nice heatsink. The fan is a small one 80x80x10mm, but it's quiet and keeps things cool so far... I can always upgrade the fan to a Vantec Tornado 80x80x38mm for some real cooling and noise!
After all of the problems I had at the start of the year with cpu, hard drives, video cards and the like, I'm leaving my computers only slightly overclocked. I'm running all of them between 5 and 10% OC'd. All video cards are stock at this point in time..

So with my plans for this weekend, I'll be contacting you next Tuesday or so. I'll be here tomorrow until 2:00pm, and then off we/I go to Florida and some sun!

Take care and Fold on! :-)

Hey cappy,

BTW - If you still want to do a Fedora 6 install on your new system PM compaddict. He has my Master disks (all 6 of them) and will ship them to you at Your request.

I'd like to have them back by next Friday the 23rd if possible. That way I can set up my second SMP folding rig over the weekend and get ready for our March Madness run on the competition. Although I don't think anyones going to catch Team Owners... We might still get a top 3 maybe?? We're currently 6th and holding our own with you down. So anything is possible.

Take care and have fun setting up your new parts, :-)
