Hi boys!!

I'm glad to see everything is under control!! hvac is making a nice climb and addition to our team. Thanks hvac!! Keep it up. Have you changed out your cpu yet? Just curious...

Shaj and cappy - you guys have quite the battle going!! I'm glad you got your computer working cappy. Sorry to hear that your Dad isn't going to upgrade though, shaj! Probably doesn't see any real benefit for the money investment. Besides everyone has jumped onto the Vista wagon! He'd have to learn a whole new OS and some people, contrary to what MS thinks, don't like doing that. That really sucks in a way. I'm trying to find a good laptop for my middle daughter to go to GVSU, however, all of the current manufacturers have Vista installed. Too bad! GVSU can't use Vista and IE 7.... not yet anyway.
I may have to buy one and reformat everything and set it up with Windows XP. That'll be a trip! Finding all of the drivers for a mobile... yuck!

As for me. It looks like all of the folding computers are working fine. I wish I could say the same for me. This last trip to Daytona was a trip from H#*L.. Everything that could go wrong did, it was cold there, really cold. 53 degF was the high with 30 mph winds that were cold. Reminded of when I went ice fishing - once! At least then I had flannels and a polar bear outfit to keep warm. I was not prepared for the cold this time around. I also got sick and spent one extra day in Florida. That cost me an extra $800.00 due to flights and rental car payments. Oh well... My daughter had fun. The only good thing from the trip!

I'm back for now. The leg is healing, so I'll be back to work next week... I hope. In the meantime...

Take care and Fold on! :-)

Hi Guys,

I just read this interesting post on another thread. I won't say who wrote it or which thread, I just wanted to share it with you...

<"Just for your information, we have few teams with 3 SMP folders -
ascension (will be 4 i think) - High production team.. If shack gets his rig up and running, might be unstoppable except for Taeric...
owners (have 3 but.. i run on X2 so......)

Then there are some fast folders..
C2D (will be ready for April or May competition)
Folding Fury - Possible winner for this month, Pauldovi was down for few days
TOFTOF - a rock solid team. I think only turned to SMP..
Zang! - won last month.. but team needs one more member, i wonder if they found one yet

There are some single power folders..

The Points

SMP
Usually X2 yields about 1000~1200 ppd
Conroes at 3.0Ghz yields about 1600~1800 ppd
Conroes at 3.6Ghz yields about 2200 ppd

Windows
X2 yields 300~600 ppd (depending on WU's)
Conroe 600~1000 ppd

Clearly, whoever has more SMP running, has the upper hand.

So, theoretical max of team production is about 250,000 points per month if 4 Conroes at 3.6Ghz.

Before SMP, winning team used to average 50,000
Now the bar has been raised to 100,000

I speculate many teams will break 75k mark.."> End Quote.

Seems that our team has been forgotten about already... It was a good post and honest as well, BUT we are not listed as "rock solid" or "high folders". However, we've been as high as 3rd place and only once did we finish less than 7th...(that was in October - 11th place I think?).

Just thought I'd get your competitive juices up... At one time when we had an opening when LBN left and then Hellgy, we had many folks trying to join our team. Hmmm... Where have those glory days gone, or could I be the problem, with taking up 3 rigs???

Take care, :-)

Wow buick, you almost top 14000pts last week. Nice one but our team still 6th place. The thing is we're pretty behind in technology right now. If cappy gets his SMP and x1950pro up we're still left with 2 members with singlecore....wish I had a freaking job.

Hi shajbot,

That's Ok.... This week might be better than last or worse, I don't really know. As for technology. Yeah some teams are going SMP for the points and leaving a lot of others out on the limb or in the dust. I guess that's the price of competition. However, Stanford becomes the real winner here.
I'm not going to suggest it, but I think OCN might have to re-write their team folding rules. Regular folders compete against each other with similar set ups and SMP/GPU folders compete against each other with like for like set ups.... It would be much more fair, I think. I feel bad for some folders who have been folding for 2 years now, like claymanhb, or bigval, or lonnie5000 and others who are losing positions because of the "new" technology. I guess that's the price of progress.

Take care shaj and be true to your school... (just an old '60s saying!) :-)

Do you have 1 rig folding or 2?? Just wondering... I thought you had 2. One that's yours and one that was the school's....

March is going to be quite a battle, guys. Will be very interesting to see who wins! Either way, doesn't matter who wins the battle, its Stanford who wins the war!

Hi bdattilo!

Please don't tell anyone - its hush, hush.... LOL

I think March will be a battle for the top 4 spots. Everybody's getting their warpaint on now! That's why I changed my avatar to a P-51 "Grim Reaper"... I've always liked WW2 aircraft and the nose art! No PC (political correctness) stuff there!!

Take care and Good Luck in the team competition! :-)

I just got an idea...... custumizable threads! Like choose skins for the threads. Itd be cool for the folding teams but hard to make it happen.

Hey Buick,

Work really kicked in with the cold snap. I`ve been working seven days/week ever since, so the chip is still sitting in my drawer. I`m going to wait until things really slow down, so I can commit the better part of a day to changing out the chip, and other things such as cable management and dremeling out the perforated holes in front of the heatpipe fan. `Will have to work carefully inside this "breadbox" so everything will fit back together correctly, and with optimum air movement. Plus, my rig is really working smoothly right now, so I don`t want to mess with it yet. Hopefully, things will go smoothly when I do the deed.
