Hi hvac,

Yeah I know about cold snaps! However, the Midwest is gonna get killed this week with tornadoes, freezing rain, etc... Good luck with all of that!!

Take your time with the cpu. No need to hurry because of us... I'm glad life is busy for you (I guess :-/), having a job to pay the bills is always good.

Take care and Fold On!!

Hi shajbot,

I think what cappy means is:

Being able to design and color our team thread. As of now its the same color scheme as everything else in OCN. It would be cool to jazz it up a little... Add some reds here and there and make it "tribal" looking.... Way to much for any forum to deal with though!

I'd probably defer to you guys, with all of your different games and warrior type color schemes. Mine would be boring in contrast...

BTW - By the end of today, I'm going to post 6 more times (helping others of course!) to get to 1,000 posts!! I finally will make it... Whew

Take care, :-)

Hi Guys,

Having doing a little surfing through some of the other team threads, I think our fortunes of climbing back into the top 3 are being hit hard.

Team Fury, Team Owners, TOFTOF and Team Ascension are all going SMP and will leave everyone in the dust come March...

We will probably be a good and very solid 6th to 9th place team over the next few months. I can't give any more and I don't expect you guys to go out and spend a zillion dollars trying to keep up with the SMP trend...

So lets just quietly do our thing and be a constant 50K per month team - OK??

Take care and Fold On! :-)

Well, for some reason my comp is stable now, been folding all night with smp. (old video card and still old power supply) 54% on the 1700 pointer, about About 20 minutes a % so anywhere from 48 to 60% a day i would say.

Hi cappy,

The old video card would be no problem, nor will the psu "if" the 12v, 5v and 3v rails are reasonably stable and meet the ATX 2.0 criteria. If memory serves me correctly the 12v rail should be between a +/- 5% or 11.4v/12.6v the 5v rail has the same +/- of 5% or 4.75v/5.25v and the 3v the same +/- 5% or 2.85v/3.15v.
BTW - I checked my saved paperwork and those numbers are correct. The -12v and -5v rails can see a +/- of 10%.

I think the 3v rail and 12v are the most important because they power your DDR and cpu/video card.

As far as speed goes. Mine gets a 1,760 pointer completed about every 20 hours or 5% of the frame completion per hour. That's with the X2 3800 at a slight OC of 205 fsb. Based on your stated %, your getting 2% to 2.5% per hour.... So your right there... neither of us will be able to compete with the Conroes at all!! That's why my post earlier....

We'll just have to be satisfied with what were doing and love each other a bunch because we're on the same team.... LOL :-)

I'm also getting a pretty good breakdown of speed for WU's with this new batch of 3039-3041's. All have 5,000 frames to complete for 186 pts Here's the breakdown:

XP1600 - Down/Retired
XP1800 stock - 44s per frame (Middle daughter) Will get my old one soon!
P4 2.53 @ 2.755 - 29s per frame (brother's)
P4 2.6 @ 2.665 - 31s per frame (youngest daughter)
P4 3.06 mobile @ 2.880 - 28s per frame (folding only)
P4 2.8 @ 2.940 - 27s per frame (oldest daughter)
P4 3.2 @ 3,360 Down right now... My old one!
X2 4400 Stock - 25s per frame (mine)
FX-55 2.6 @ 2.730 - 21s per frame (folding only)

So there you have it. Moderate Overclocks will get you 1 to 3 sec gain per frame or up to 4 hours per WU... You have to balance that with heat/usage/longevity.

BTW - My gpu rig just folds... If you try anything with it, it will crash and start new. So I don't mess with it at all!!!

Take care, :-)

I go to play a game a hour ago, and my comp crashes. So i switch my video card to a different pci slot and hit the power. Spark, and smoke along with a bright light comes. SO i switch slots again, boots up fine but my sound is now gone also. Man this mobo will not die. SMP 1700 pointer is 50 % done, couldnt fold for half the day.

Oh i love em, but that was my sound! I have NO SOUND! NO MUSIC! It was that weird buzzing sound to, like 5 years ago, the transformer on the corner blew, omg that was the loudest sound iv ever heard. It was like 2000 guns going off. SMP is now at 76% done a percent every 19 minutes

Hi cappy,

No music!! Oh no...

Well there is always the Boom Box...

I miss spoke earlier about my 1760 pointer. I'm getting the same timing of 2% to 3% or so per hour. 24 hours = 70% or so. So your Opty and my X2 3800 are about the same.

Take care, :-)
