Hi hvac,

I've been checking around the web, but as you noted there's nothing really out there for you to use. The only other suggestion I have is to duct cold air into the inlet fan. I do that during the summer when the room temps begin to climb above 27degC or 80degF.

I will continue to look around though and post back if I see anything of interest...

Take care, :-)

Ok boys the 11th rig is up and running with Fedora 6 and a P4 3.2C... Seems to be really fast! It's working on a p1814 Amber core. In the old days with Windows XP, according to my records it would complete in about 23-25 hours. Right now it's on track to complete in 18 hours! Wow what a difference...
I'll post back when I know the true time. As for the 12th rig. It will be going tomorrow for sure (my day off!) with an AMD3800+ and Fedora 6.... This one should be fast as well....

Look out RoscoeMcGurk!!! I want to be the number 3 folder in OCN....

Take care guys, :-)

Hey, we're in 9th place. Not too shabby, considering I'm only averaging about 400-500 points a week. I'm thinking that I might try to bump back up to the 1.75-1.8 GHz range. My system has been problem free for a while, and I think it could handle it. Only minor problem has been tons of spyware which Microsoft won't find. So, I've reinstalled Spybot to eliminate it. Also, probably time for a defrag.

Also, sounds like you're really hauling ass now Buick. I wouldn't be too surprised if you jump a rank or two in a month or two.

Hey boys just thought I'd let you know that I just bought a Brand New in the Box E6400 for $135.00 on eBay!!! Wow...
I also picked up a Gigabyte DS3 motherboard and 1 GB of Corsair XMS 6400C4 800Mhz DDR2 on eBay for $210.00. I guess patience is a virtue. I've been waiting and watching eBay now for weeks looking for that great buy for my Conroe folding rig. I hope it's not one of those - too good to be true deals. However both sellers have 100% positive feedback rates.

So my new SMP rig will be going by the end of next week.... It will be interesting to compare the X2 AMD's to the E6400. I think from what I've seen here on OCN, there will be no comparison....

Wish me luck guys and Take care, :-)

Wow the whole rig for at most $350. I guess patience is indeed a virtual but your luck surely surpasses it. Anyhow, wish you even more lucks.

Hi shajbot and Thanks!!!

Yeah I got real lucky with that E6400 cpu. I couldn't believe they were selling it at $135.00 with buy it now!!! I had to jump on that auction price. I've been bidding on some of the E6400's on eBay, but people just don't get it. When they can buy one from newegg or zipzoomfly for $222.00 and free shipping, why would they be willing to spend more, pay for shipping and buy it on eBay?? Am I missing something?? Maybe it's the thrill of the bidding or something. Who really knows???

And to top it off, I just got an E-mail from the seller and they have already shipped the cpu with UPS 3-day delivery. Imagine that... The motherboard and ram are on their way as well, since the guy lives in Washington.

BTW - Did you notice that I passed 50,000 points today?? I've never done that before. I might get 100,000 for the month. That would be a real nice deal for me. And 300,000 points is just around the corner...

Take care and Fold On!! :-)

Hey Duke,

Thanks for the cool faq on building a heatpipe. I may try this. The guy who wrote this faq was using R-134A. I have R-22, a much colder refrigerant. So, I could build a heatpipe with about twice the cooling capacity as the 134A pipe. But, for now I`m first going to try a copper heatsink with a mini blower and some AS-5. This is made by Microfin, and is small enough to fit INSIDE my rig. It cost only $25, so it will be worth the effort. If I`m not happy with that I`ll build the R-22 heatpipe. `Rep for you. Oh, I forgot. A forum director can`t receive rep (although I don`t understand that concept).
