First it's important to know that WinSMP was created for Quad cores. The higher end Intels can make the deadlines with breathing room but the AMD's are not as good at folding these units. Mine are just making the deadlines. Here are my times just to show you what I mean.

Conroe E6600 @ 3.2GHz 34 WU per month avg ~44000 pts

2610 - 12 minutes per frame - 20 hours
2651 - 13.5 minutes per frame - 22.5 hours
2652 - 12 minutes per frame - 20 hours

Athlon X2 3800 @ 2.5GHz 16 WU per month avg ~22000 pts

2610 - 38 minutes per frame - 62 hours
2651 - 26 minutes per frame - 43 hours
2652 - 19 minutes per frame - 31.5 hours

For quad core, just cut my Conroe times in half and then double the monthly points. I have read most of Vijay's posts on WinSMP and he has said it was a great feat to get SMP working with Windows. It's easy to set up and works well for me. I never was able to get Linux working but it still gives the most points from what I've read. Use what works for you, it all helps the cause and they are happy to get the help with whatever method you use.

Glad you had a fun trip Buick! Hopefully it made up for the last one. That E6400 will be your best folder. Since you've had good luck with Linux, you will most likely have better points than I have posted.
Hi compaddict,

No problems with me... Those numbers look pretty good! I like 44,000 points per month. That's a 1,466 per day avg on a 30 day month! Not to shabby...

I will be using Linux or should I say Fedora 6. I have had good success with it. Seems the power supply in my P4 3.2 using Fedora 6 quit. Off to the store I go....

Take care guys, :-)

I'm start getting bored about folding already, with the low output points for Windows standard folding - only 400 pts for 3 days of folding, and that's on a A64 3800+. Back in the day it was a $300 piece of hardware (just early 2006). Now the mainstream is dual-core, and guess what the next big thing is - PS3 - proven massive power over traditional SMP, and only $600 apiece.
Hey shaj,

You changed your avatar!! I like it... I'll have to get a new one as well.

Sully is getting a little old LOL

Take care, :-)

Hey, great that you had fun down in Tennessee. I used to live in North Carolina, so I know what the weather can be like down in that part of the country (golfing on christmas, for example).

Hi cappy,

Ouch! That's what Windows like to do. If it thinks the program is accessing memory or doing things "wrong" it will close out the program. I have had Gromac errors before at 90% or so, but not at 100% and then getting compiling errors.

Just hang in there... :-)

Hi cappy,

I got those DX9 warning with gpu folding as well. Has to do with memory access... I just had a power bump and SMP rig shutdown. Now I can't get the SMP folding going again in Fedora 6. Any suggestions??

Help, :-)
