Yeah, those Delta fans are pretty powerful. About getting a rheostat, try changing the pins on the connector so the fan runs at 5V. If the temps are good and it isn't too noisy, then you should be all set. Back when I built my fan controller, I couldn't find rheostats that were the right wattage/resistance. The fan circuit I ended up building (you can access it through the link in my sig) supports fairly high wattage fans from what I've read on the original page about it over at gideontech.

Hi HVAC,

Being an HVAC guy, you can probably find the rheostat that you'll need. However, here's a link to a site I use all the time, Cooler Guys...
http://www.coolerguys.com/840556016564.html

This fan controller is a Zalman and can be hooked up on the back of the case through the PCI bracket area. At least that's how I did it when I used a Zalman heatsink/fan unit. THe price is right at $5.95 and then there's S/H. Check around their site perhaps you'll find something you can use...

I know about large fans and fan noise. I had an old Vantec Tornado 92mmx38mm that pushed out over 100cfm, but it was loud. I used it when gaming and stuff. Gave it to another gamer during updates and such or I'd have sent it to you...

Take care and I hope this helped, :-)

Hi cappy,

That sounds terminal! I'm sorry to hear about your problems though. The gpu folding is real sensitive to other programs being run on the computer. Again, that's why my 1950XTX does nothing but that, Fold. I saw that coming when the original gpu beta testers were trying to get their rigs going. At the time, 600+ points a day was great. Now it not worth the trouble. I also think it can't be good on the gpu card, folding 24/7 for months on end... When it dies, and I'm sure it will, I'll go with another Conroe, perhaps. I do have another 1950XTX in my main rig (the old aborted attempt at a second gpu rig in Dec 2006), so I could use that one. But the gpu's are really hard to set up, keep running, and the points are not that great now...

As a side note. It seems the PS3's are getting a lot of press now. When the prices come down, maybe one of those would or could do it?? I haven't seen anybody here in OCN using those yet, right??

Take care and hang in there! :-)

Hi LBN,

Yeah I must say you are doing great! You're at 273 now! If memory serves me correctly, weren't you at 269 before you gave up folding back last June?? If that is the case, you'll be there within a week!

Keep up the great work and Fold On!!

Hi shajbot,

Work has been murder this week. Spring is here in Michigan, so to speak, and everybody is shopping and upgrading their homes. Been putting in a lot of hours, and I'm tried. Whew!

So you didn't get any pictures?? I'll re-send them and send some more. Perhaps I'll need to keep it to 2 pictures per E-mail?? Is there a web site I can upload them to that only you have access too?? I could do that as well. Just a thought...but I'd rather not have the "whole world" looking at my old family pictures, if you know what I mean...

Take care, :-)

You're not doing too bad yourself, Buick. You just moved up to the number 12 spot.

Hi Labby & Buick,

My shuttle PSU doesn`t have any 5 volt pin access (I would have to go inside it, and it`s very small). If there`s anything on the MOBO, it would require me to tear down my rig just to gain access to the MOBO. So, that`s why I`m going the rheostat route. I`ll check out those sites you mentioned, but first I`m going to try the local electronic supply store. If this doesn`t work out, I`ll probably bite the bullet and go phase.

I'm sorry, I'll rephrase what I said. Does the delta connect via a molex? If it does, then just reverse the red and yellow pins in the connector. That way, it'll be running at 5v.

You can zip them up (archiving) and upload to rapidshare.com. I'll give you proper credit in my presentation. Thanks
