My college English final is still 1 hour away--that's what I just found out, and I'm already arrived at school...I could return home and come back but meh...We have to make a presentation for our topic reaseach paper. I'm kinda nervous because I wrote about video games, and you know it's not so popular among the adult here, which are the majority of our class...they already have children, and some are poor can't even afford a computer...sigh, this presentation will be tough to come out.

Hi shajbot,

Look at it this way. Most of the audience might be adults, some may not have computers, and the adults may not like video games, because they don't understand them, can't play them or think they are to violent.

Either way, your presentation could help them understand something that they currently do not. If presented correctly and accurately, it might even get them involved in something they don't have an interest in now. I know the presentation will be over by the time you read this, but reminding them of times when video games were pong, super pong, break out, etc, will help them remember "their" times and hopefully what their parents thought of the games back in the day. I doubt that their parents thought much of the video games back then either.

To some extent, video games have pushed computers and video cards to new heights. Nobody really needs a 3.2Ghz cpu to surf the web or send E-mails. You need that kind of power to help play those very demanding games. And don't get me started on how the video card market has boomed over the past 3 or 4 years because of the ever changing video game market... Does DX-10 ring any bells??

I don't think it will be as hard as you think. Just know your material and always anticipate questions. I think it will be harder on you standing in front of an audience! Most people would rather run naked through the park in the middle of the day than stand in front of a group of people.

Take care and I hope you turns out great for you! :-)

Yup, it wasn't too hard. I'm fine with the speaking in front of audiences, but just not the type that able to answer every questions out there if were raised by the audiences (not real-time debatable type).

Luckily, no questions were raised, although the woman I kinda talked earlier about did give attitude while I was doing my speech and when she was doing hers, and after ward. And guess what, she has a topic that completely against mine. Actually I know it before hand that she was going to bash video games, by then I actually trashed my Global Warming idea and doing one on positive aspect of video games.

I guess I shouldn't be talking behind her back like this but I just want to make a comment that, she bashed Enimem, horrors movies, movies with violence like in Disney's!, and GTA in video games. But she had never given facts that link them between video games and youth violence or any kind of violence. In my speech, I made clear that studies have shown no links between video games (fact) and childhood bullies and exposing to violent neighborhood have more impacts than a game (liable source says). She totally bashed that. I stated it's parent's responsibility, she bashed it and said that parents have life that they can't always be there for their kids to pick out the games, so what or who to blame, parents? Yeah...Life? LOL you blame life for everything...

What it all comes down to is everyone has different opinions and sometimes it's hard to accept but you are to accept. But facts are facts, video games are the next big thing. Just stay around and watch.

Hi shajbot,

Yeah I meet the kind of people you speak of everyday. And we hear about or read about those kind of people everyday. The people I speak of, are those who take no responsibility for their actions.

They buy hot coffee, dump it on themselves, but blame others for their mistake (and get rewarded!).

These are the kind of people who do stupid things or allow stupid things to happen and it has to be someone else's fault, because they can't or won't take the responsibility for their actions. The unfortunate part is that our current society in America, seems to be taking their side.

I'm not one of them, but I'm also a lone voice in the woods. So if you drive your car into something, then be default, it is your fault! No excuses...

People like the lady you describe, always try to place blame on all of our current problems in America on exterior/environmental things. It's easy that way, you don't have to take any guilt home with you for not doing your part...

I think you probably handled the issue just fine. Well done!!

Take care and I hope you get a good grade for your effort! :-)

Ah lol, just so you guys know what's going on. I just got my E4300 and some crap Asrock mobo up and running!! Overclocked straight off to 2.4Ghz. Though I still can't watch that darn blu-ray movie that I ripped on my hard drive. But this board is pure crap though...I get what I paid for, $60, no voltage options, IDE sockets are placed where I can't reach them (had to move the cd drives around for the cable to reach), the floopy socket inaccessible, took 2 hours to get the stock Intel heatsink on...I'll keep you guys update.

`Pretty nice Shajbot. `Wish I could afford one like that.

Update on my rig. I figured out that my MOBO won`t support overclocking. No matter how little (just .1 gig, even) I try to OC my chip, my OC will reset after a restart. This happens in as little as 10 minutes after I OC my chip. So, I guess I`ll just have to live with it until I can afford to build another rig. Can`t find anything in BIOS to change that. I`m at around 470 in the rankings and still gaining slightly. I expect in the not too distant future that will level off, though.
