Hi Skullz,

Will do! Now to figure out what to do with my E6600 cpu that is coming in a few weeks or month... And my 2nd gpu rig will be lonely for another month or two... until I can free up some more money...

Take care and Thanks! :-)

Hi shaj,

Power and you get him folding for you as well... The best of both worlds...

Just a suggestion though, if you have not already done so. Tie back those cables for better cooling and a cleaner more professional look.

And numlock is not a girl?? I thought I read some where that they were... Oh well... My mistake!

Take care, :-)

Yeah I was thinking about that, but case and mobo are so cheap, their designs can't be worked to look as professional...Placements of plugs are pretty awkward. But the case is cool, no component is stressed much so it stays cool and just work!

And I don't even know numlock is a girl or not but he sounds like a boy...hahha

Hi HVAC,

Yeah that's what I thought as well. So I purchased a Quad Q6600 B3 stepping today along with a P5B motherboard... So I'll have a Quad going by month's end I hope.
If I can get my hands around another Conroe, that will be added to my folding farm as well. My 2nd gpu setup is going to have to wait a few weeks right now.

I didn't think I'd go Quad so early, but a nice deal on one convinced me to do so. So there you have it...

Take care and Fold On, :-)

My bro's rig is up and SMPing under my name LOL...Ah well, something to pays me back for assembling his rig, plus it only uses free-cycle.

E2140 1mb cache @ 2.00GHz

Hey buick, how's the folding with that X1950XTX you have? I'm in the market for new graphic card, and the one I just bought, I had to RMA the next day because artifacting (X1950XT). It's not shipped yet so I can ask for a refund if. What you say if I give you $180 and you give me that card, please? I trust you and the condition of the card, and I'm also very interested in the performance of the card so I'm making you this offer. Let me know if you want to keep the card for folding, it's perfectly fine, thanks.

Hi shaj,

My first gpu rig, a X1950XTX is folding just fine and has been since October. One little glitch back in early January. As for the second one. If you remember I had the same set up as the first one and it never took off. Nothing but trouble. I think now it was the motherboard. It's the same motherboard I now have folding, but can't get the X2 4400 hardly overclocked at all. It runs real slow compared to the other X2's I have... 3 days to complete a work unit!

As for the gpu card. I don't know about it either. I had trouble with it on my main rig, but I think it was driver related. I have an ASUS A8V-VM just laying around with a AMD64 3800+ in it, and thought I'd try folding with the X1950XTX with it. I think gpu folding is a lot more sensitive than SMP or the normal clients...

That is a long winded answer, but the bottom line is, I don't really know if the X1950XTX is Ok or not. So I would not want to sell a friend or anybody else something that might be suspect at any price. That ASUS A8N-SLI with the X2-4400 and X1950XTX was starting to give me a lot of trouble. I tried different things, but could never find a real solution. That's why my main rig changed yet again last month to the one in my sig. I didn't want to change everything out again because it was only in there from late January. If you remember, I bought an XFX 7950GX2 to replace the X1950XTX..... I'm liking nVidia a lot these days.

With the new Quad coming, I'm going the take the case that I was going to use for the gpu folding rig and use it. I'll get another case and psu for the gpu rig sometime later this month. Like I said, I'm not in a real hurry to gpu fold because my previous experience was so bad.

I do hope you get your video card problems sorted out though!

Take care, :-)

Yeah, I remember that. And the ATI card is giving you trouble too eh. Man, can't ATI make something decent for awhile. First ATI I had to RMA too, now this. And this one the X1950XT, the cooler makes jet sound at 60% fan cycle duty. Driver install is PITA. Now let's hope the new one works or it's done for me with ATI.

Thanks for letting me know though.

Hi shajbot,

Yeah... You might not remember this, but back about 5 or 6 years ago only the most ardent fanboy would buy or use ATI cards. They had terrible driver support and were always having conflicts with programs or games. Then ATI put a full court press on their drivers after the 9700Pro came out. They seemed to fix problems quickly and their Catalyst series starting back at 3.2 or so were good.

Then AMD bought out ATI and I've noticed that their drivers are real problematic. Even those that are WHQL approved don't seem to work right. That's why I went back to nVidia. So far that's been a good deal....

BTW - What is PITA??? A new kind of driver or install program??

Take care and Good Luck!
