Awesome Buick!

I remember when you first started folding, and then it grew into a healthy obsession.

Start school on Friday. Just picked up a few new clothes (five pairs of slacks, a pair of box-toes, a pair of sneakers for outside of school so my old ones can become gym sneakers, a new navy blazer, and a new belt). I still need to pick up a few things when it starts cooling down (boots, a few new sweaters and vests. Hoping to get some argyle as it's really popular at school right now).

Here we go -- the countdown starts --

983,021 as of 8/26/07 @ Midnight

16,979 points to go... I think 3 days - Keep your fingers crossed!

@ shajbot - yeah that 100,000 mark was back in October of last year....

Thanks to all for the support! :-)

As for the Quad that will be a good upgrade. However, if the current team competition rules are still standing, you won't be able to fold for Folders Inc... No Quads are allowed there. Sorry

Take care and Fold On! :-)
Hey Buick,

What`s the deal with no quads? Some other teams have SMPs, and that seems a little unfair to me. Explain the reasoning, please.

It's just that if you run SMP on a quad, it will use all four cores, and each core is counted by OCN. So, running a quad would break the 3 cores per person rule. Of course, you could just run several instances of non-SMP folding or just run SMP over VMware (which'll only recognize two cores).

Hi HVAC,

I think LBN stated it best:

"It's just that if you run SMP on a quad, it will use all four cores, and each core is counted by OCN. So, running a quad would break the 3 cores per person rule. Of course, you could just run several instances of non-SMP folding or just run SMP over VMware (which'll only recognize two cores)."

For now that's the rule thats been laid out by taeric. Some folks don't like it much, but you can fold for yourself and not be on a team.... As for the SMP folding. I think that in some cases it is unfair... If a team has all of its members folding SMP's, it will be real hard for others to catch them. Team Owners comes to mind... Those guys have it going... but they are also getting bored because no one has been able to challenge them, except with a lot of hot air!

Don't get discouraged about the team competition thing though... As a member of Folders Inc, you have made the "elite" club! You will always have a home here on this thread, and all of your efforts have been and will be appreciated, by all of us!

Take care and Fold On! :-)

Man, 11 hours at school today. Can't say that I'm less tired than if I have worked 8 hours. Hope it serves me in the end.

Ok second update...

989,338 as of Midnight 8/27... I'm getting closer. But I also just lost an SMP folding rig. I think the ram went bad. 8 shutdowns of the core. The FAH program is not happy, and it's a big one as well - 1,760 points! I may run out of time with the deadline....

Take care, :-)

Well the SMP client was lost... After 34 hours of folding and 55% complete - it's gone!

It's working on another one, but this time I have new ram in it. I had some Kingston HyperX PC-3200 stuff laying around. I guess I'm going to join the "watch out for Ballistix" crowd. The ram is only 18 months old... Could it be???

Oh well.....

Oof... RAM failure is always annoying. I just hope you don't lose anymore rigs before you hit 1 mil.
