Hi LBN and Folders Inc...

I'm almost there! Currently at 999,747 according to Stanford. I have 1 WU going down today at 10:00pm... but that will leave me at 999,993...
Perhaps tomorrow.

I now know how long the X1950XTX will last folding 24/7 at 100%. 10 months! My gpu rig gave up today at 9:00am.... If it would have completed just one more WU, I would have been over 1 million today... Oh well.

Never fear. The video card is coming out, and I'm going to swing that rig over to SMP's. I've bought 2 - X2 4200's for this board and another one I have. I've given up on gpu folding. My second gpu rig, just like last year won't get going. And that's very frustrating. It might be the X1950XTX video card. I keep getting memory errors from windows XP... So SMP folding and Fedora 7 here I come!!! That will make 5 AMD X2's folding on the old 939 socket format... When those die, Conroes will replace them.

Within 2 weeks I should have another Conroe going and perhaps the Quad. That would make it 3 Conroes and the 1 Quad. Again all of those will be on Fedora 6 or 7.... I really would like to get to 10,000 points per day average. I think I can do it, but we'll see. I did get over 200,000 this month.

So take care and Fold On!! :-)

So, do the GPUs work at all? Or did they fry? Either way, that's annoying that they won't fold for you anymore.

Hi LBN,

The first gpu rig, is folding WU's, but only the common variety. The video card works, but I have artifacts on the screen with only 800x600 resolution and 16 bit color. So I think the video card is a bust. The second gpu rig, just like last December, just won't get going.... It folds for maybe 2 hours and then Windows closes it down due to page errors, or memory error, or a "program" is trying to access memory it can't or windows won't let it... Same story as last year. Maybe the card has some faulty DDR chips and the gpu tries to access other memory to compensate. I don't really know at this point, and Stanford folks couldn't give me any help or ideas back in December. They did finally conclude that maybe it was a hardware problem, but with all new stuff I didn't want to believe them.

The recent DDR collapse of Ballistix has me thinking otherwise. I think the gpu folding requires top notch components and no over-clocking to be stable... Something is a miss with that second X1950XTX video card, because the cpu is the same, but nothing else. I did use it for a while in my main rig, but I thought ATI drivers were giving me problems with my Flight Sim Games. Maybe not? The card would always freeze up the game, just when I was about to put the hurt on another plane or ground target. The GX2 has no such trouble!

Like I said, I'll set up some cheapo SMP rigs and see what happens....

Thanks for taking an interest.... :-)

Well it's "official" from Stanford - 1,001,081 @ 3:00am 8/30/07!!!!

I made it into that elite club!!! An SMP WU 1,187 put me over the top...

Thanks guys for everything.... I could not have made it without you!
