W00t LBN, yay for 150 rep. You'll be in Illinois? What are you doing there mind I ask? You're so lucky, you're always visiting somewhere. My ideal weekend would be chilling at home with no homework and that's all I'm wishing for.

I'm out visiting my sister at college. She got into UIUC's production of La Boheme (she's in the chorus for two acts), and we're going to see that. The way we get away with traveling is that we fly Southwest, so the fares are quite cheap. With the amount the family has been flying recently, we're going to have a few free flights soon.

Also, normally we don't travel a whole lot. This year just has a ton happening. If my dad's salary hadn't gone up this year, we probably wouldn't have been able to do this much stuff. Before this year, the last really big trip we had was back in 2000, when we went back to France for a few weeks. Normally it's just been short trips to visit family or go chill somewhere for a few days. But next year will also probably have us going a great distance, as my sister will be studying abroad (she's not 100% sure where).

Oof... My arms are really tired right now from my bell rehearsal. I had to ring the entire bottom octave today, as the other guy (who's stronger than me so he rings C3 through F3) was out. It's quite a workout, as the weight delta between Bb3 and C3 is enormous. C3 probably weighs about 12 lbs. or so.

Hi LBN,

I assume you did alright though, correct? I'm not familiar at all with bell ringing, but I do love to watch and listen to it when a group comes into town...
The local high school doesn't have the monies or facilities for it.

Well good luck with all of that! and take care of those arms....maybe spinach? It worked for Popeye...

Yeah, our first piece we were working on is quite easy and I can completely handle the entire bottom octave (it only happens to be 7 bells for that piece and it's rare for two to ringing simultaneously). The other piece was a crazy arrangement of Carol of the Bells and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. There were parts when I'd have just rung a Bb (one end of the table) and then I'd have to get down to the other end to ring the C. Not possible to do. That piece uses 10 of the 12 bells in the 3 octave.

As highschool is almost over for me, I question myself even more, should I leave everything at fate and make little attempt to grasp anything and still have a somewhat easy and boring life OR whether I need to grab every chances and make every attempt to do anything to make a different...

Hey, trying stuff and jumping at opportunity is a good thing. If you get your name out, it'll help you after HS (either in college recs or in finding a job).

Yeah you know, I was thinking like finding the soulmate. But you're very correct about getting teh name out.

Oh, that taking risks!

In that case, just suck it up and ask if she wants to dance. Chicks dig guys who can dance.

Hi shaj,

So you're questioning your being or why are you here on this earth at this time, and if since you are here at this time, What should I do about it??

In the course of that questioning your wonder if there is any "soulmate" for you? and if so how in the heck are you going to find that person?? Hmm Good thoughts and the same ones that have been asked many times for many generations....

Interesting stuff and thoughts, if I got it right. If not ignore this post... If somewhat right, maybe I have something to think about...

The soulmate first... At some time in our lives we wonder who and or when will we find that soulmate and live happily ever after. Although people look for that person all the time, sometimes by divine intervention, chance or through the crossing of paths that person will come. The real issue is not to get anxious about it or be consumed by it. It will happen and trusting that it will is all you need to do. Sometimes that moment will come and it will be up to you to recognize it. I think you will and in the meantime, follow a path that works for you and let the rest take its course. Because you can not control everything, but you can control - what you do!

As for life... I don't think anybody knows exactly why we are here or whats in store for us. The big thing is to not run in fear or make bad decisions. You need to make decisions, but based on that moment in time and what you know is right. I know you can do that easily! So enjoy and let life take its course with input from you. But as I tell my daughters, don't be afraid to make decisions, just stand by them. If they don't work out, learn from it and move on. If they work great, then learn from those and remember how and what you did. That way you'll be able to repeat the good and learn from the bad...

Nothing is worse than not making a decision and allowing others to do that for you. That is something your parents have been doing all of your life and now it's time to make your own decisions based on what they've taught you and from the experiences you've learned from.

It's not an easy task, life, but it is fun, if you let it be... I was once very much like you and others... Wondering and waiting... But somehow, I muddled through and got to where I am today...

I'll share something with you, that until right now I've only shared with my daughters and one other person. It's something my Dad said to me many years ago... In fact I'll share two things...

First, when I was 15 he told me this about girls:
"Son, remember that girls are mental and emotional, and that boys are physical and visual" I didn't understand it then, but many years later I did and it helped me out tremendously when it came to dealing with those creatures we call girls or later woman....

As for the last bit of advice:

"Son, no matter how talented you think you are or how smart you think you are, there will always be someone more talented or smarter. Those are God given talents and you have no control over that. However, you do have control over your attitude and work habits. So have and keep a better attitude and work harder than the next guy and you'll go father than most." I have found that last piece of advice has worked for me for years... And so in some small way I hope it will help you...

Take care and Stay well, :-) I hope some of this helped....
