Well... I had a major "oh crap" moment yesterday. I was at the concert for districts, and we were waiting to go on. I was standing there, holding my clarinet, when suddenly the middle cork joint let go. I had just greased it earlier because it was stiff, but the grease in combination with my saliva from playing all day had made it really slick. So, the bottom part fell and landed on the floor. At first, I thought I had cracked the wood (in which case I would have been beyond screwed - that's a repair that starts at about $300 and just goes up), but that was not the case. However, I snapped my thumb rest, and my audition for all-state is next week, so now I've got to find a replacement. Of course, it's probably going to be an expensive part (like at least $10 for just a little chunk of metal). It's too bad, as the old one was very comfy. It's still usable, but I have to move it to a position that's nowhere near as comfortable. Plus, it wiggles a lot more than it did.

Well, I'm glad that it wasn't the $300 piece. Not quite easy to dig up that amount of money in a short period of time and time for repair too. So hopefully you find a thumb rest that is inexpensive and still give you enough comfy.

I went to a party with my friends on friday. It was amazing. After the band practice, we were in for some food and drinks. A couple guys got semi-drunk. Then we pulled out a guitar and a song book and the whole group sung. The guy played the guitar was truly awesome. He just listened to the singing and sprung out the exact music for it.

Did I tell you guys I love singing besides playing guitar? I can read music, I have good breath length. But my voice isn't good. It's really low so when I sing some mid and high notes it doesn't sound fully, my range is even worse. It bothers me so much.

And who are nitteo and WickedPixie..? What happened to them?

Hey shaj,

You like to sing?? That's great. Try out for American Idol... Maybe you'll get a chance to kiss Paula!! LOL

As for nitteo and WickedPixie. They were the #1 and #2 folders for OCN over the past few months. In about 6 months or so, nitteo would have passed me. But now they are gone. Amazing what a few careless words can do...

Take care ol' friend and stay well... :-)

Lol buick should I? I'm gonna need a serious vocal lesson to able go elsewhere. Even the band instructor uttered my voice was unacceptable...wth...

And sounds like something bad happened about nitteo and wickedpixie eh, I'm gonna look around.

Singing is the cheapest way to make music, shaj! I mean, you can't be worse than that one Korean guy who was on American Idol...

I've been singing for years, and now have a nice baritone voice. My main range is about an octave and a half, but my falsetto is about another octave. Just start singing in the shower or something. Sing along with your favorite tunes. Eventually, it will improve.

Hi shaj,

I would agree with LBN about the voice thing. The more you use it, and train the vocal chords the better it will become...

As for nitteo and WickedPixie.... Don't look to far. They are gone for now. I don't think Wicked will be back and I don't suppose nitteo will be either. She is still folding, but for team "0" or the default Stanford gives you...

nitteo is folding of another team - #34 I think. Overclockers.com or something like that. If you read the post on my becoming #1 (by taeric) you might understand.

A few mis-placed comments and words are to blame...

Take care guys and Fold On! :-)
