ACT is primarily a west coast/midwest thing, as they felt that the SAT was too easy. I don't see what's so easy about a test that's over four hours long... SAT is east coast, south, and southwest. Most colleges take ACT, all of them take SAT.

The snow ended up being a lie, so nothing wrong there.

Another reason vacation was bad: my mom wouldn't let me take my license test.

Hmmm I learned about the SAT and the ACT the opposite way but oh well.

And what about your mom not letting you take the license test?

My mom doesn't want me to get my license yet, saying several things including that it'll be too expensive. My dad doesn't care, as really the cost won't be that bad.

Also, just started planning the very long college visit over my April break. Gonna hit three schools in five days most likely... Grand total of almost 24 hours in the car.

Ouch!

No license yet, ACT/SAT tests coming up AND 3 schools in 5 days... That would have been a perfect time to get some driving time in... and it doesn't sound like much of a "break" to me. Oh well.

I'm glad I did not have to do the "search" for college thing with my older two daughters. I might with my youngest, and I don't look forward to it. For me it's a matter of studies/degree they're looking for, a Michigan college, location and money. Location means what part of the state or more importantly what city the college is near. There are some colleges in and around Detroit, that I have a real problem with. Like Wayne State, Detroit Mercy, etc... To dangerous!

I hope you're able to work everything out to your satisfaction. Take care, :-)

So, the college visit is probably going to be like this:
Sunday: Drive 5.5 hours to Ithaca, NY
Monday: Tour Cornell, start driving the 5.5 hours to Pittsburgh
Tuesday: get to Pittsburgh, tour Carnegie Mellon, drive 2.5 hours to Cleveland
Wednesday: Tour Case Western, start driving the 10 hours home.
Thursday: get home.

Fun...I guess. I never have the chance to go college toury. Due to financial difficulty, my options are limited to my nearest local university/college.

Cornell has a really pretty campus, especially if you don't mind jumping a fence here and there and hiking around the gorges. That's not necessarily the safest thing to do, but it's fun. I can't say I particularly enjoyed the majority of my time there, but that was for grad after four years at an undergrad school I really liked. One of my good friends from Cornell went to Carnegie Mellon for grad. The thing I remember most about her time there was that she said that if you didn't grow up in Pittsburgh, you won't much like the city. That may just be the spitefulness of grad school speaking, though (sensing a trend?) If you need any comparisons drawn between those two schools, let me know what you're interested in, and I'll pass them along.
