I can also agree a revised set of rules for points and cores/credits(that could work) is in need. I just don't wanna see anybody being able to go willy nilly and make it so anybody without a good gpu can't compete.

But on the other hand, we don't wanna make it so gpu's can't complete either due to a flaw in the ruling from a few months ago.

I was actually thinking around a 3000k ppd cap would be alright. If they folded 24/7 then it would enable them to match the higher dual core cpu's but also not so much that the ones with lower clocks can't hang.

Maybe we should implement like if your team can hit above 300k for the month you have to separate and align the teams appropriately. Really we do need to put some type of ceiling on that, hitting almost 400k is crazy and has to make everyone feel like there is no use in trying. I know if it was the other way around I more then likely would feel that way.

Anyway I'll be down for whatever the mods decide. Maybe larger teams is also a possibility.

I think that we can all agree that we are going to keep the caps. Different value assigned to it though.

Maybe for every team of four one GPU2 folder is uncapped while the others (if there are any) aren't?

No self respecting pc enthusiast has a single core cpu any more. And even if they did, there would be a place for them in this plan. Why not increase the team's core count to 12. With a max of 4 cores per person. Quads and GPUs are worth 4. This way the whole team can't gpu fold. Say there's 2 GPUs. Then the other 2 memebers would only be allowed to split the other 4 cores amongst themselves. Of course, you don't have to go with 12/4. Any combination would be ok. 12/5, or 10/4. Then if everyone still feels there needs to be a cap. Put one on everyone. Once a year, the cap should be revisited, to make sure it's not too low anymore. As new hardware comes out, everyone's gear gets faster. We'll be back to the point where we're all hitting the cap again. And asking, what's the point if we're all getting the same score.

Came back from sleep, and found a lot of good ideas.
That sounds like a good idea Nacelle, I also liked what I heard earlier about the credits, that sounded like a great plan, but I also do this we should bring Quad Folding into the team competition.
Sounds like mega_option has already made his mind up somewhat, but I'm open to anything.

We are talking about raising the cap. We have been talking about raising the cap. We have revisited this idea about every three months. I am a cpu folder, I am and so it seems nacelle see's me as the enemy. I am trying to be neutral, I really am. But this competition was designed for the little guy. Taeric changed the rules to cap gpu's and quad when they became too power. Right now gpu's are the big guys, cpu's can't even play in the realm of an 8800GS at stock. I have one, I know it can do 3800ppd at stock, with a nice overclock 5000ppd. My E8400's average right now is 3200ppd, I am in 4th place among the cpu folders.

So I am proposing a cap raise from 2000 to somewhere between 2500 and 2750. If we raised the cap to 3000, a team of gpu folders could score 360,000 points, something that only one team in the history of team folding has done. Only recently have any teams broken the 300k, I should know my team spent 5 months trying. If we uncap gpu's, we can call this the Gpu team folding competition.

I understand why you guys are upset, but don't act like you have been getting screwed forever. Most of you haven't been in the team comp even as long as I have, and I haven't been here long enough to say I have been here long. When I started here, the gpu's that were capped were equal to the best cpu folders. Only recently with the E0 E8400's has it become unbalanced. So everyone....needs to calm down. We are looking at the problem, we see the problem, and as soon as we can we will come to you with an answer.

I am sure the answer won't please everyone, its impossible to do. If after you hear the answer then you can decide if the team competition is right for you, then you have to do what you have to do, but at least give the staff enough time to talk it over and find a solution.

After a good night of sleep I final cooled down and personally really don't care what happens, I feel like we are in good hands with you and Gibson

What do you guys think about increasing the cap to 2750 PPD?

Keeping everything else the same just raising the cap?

Thoughts please Nothing official just poundering

Just raising the cap is fine. As long as the cap applies to everyone across the board.
